Those Mustang wheels were the first thing I thought about when I saw the concept's wheels.

Me too. But add the fact they dont seem to be a popular option and it took forever to get them out and I doubt too many people outside places like this will notice.

Looks cooler with the grey paint GM just added to them.

Exactly. Paybacks, atleast the Z06 wheels looked way better than Ford's copy of them, and the vert wheels look way better than the similar Stang wheels IMO!

I actually think the wheels on the 'vert look better - and it's taken me days to figure out why .......the 'vert wheels actually curve inward toward the center of the wheel - while the Rustang wheels seem flat from outer edge to center. I don't want to think that it would make a big difference, but damn, I love the 'vert wheels and hate the rustang's (even before knowing it was a Rustang). Myabe I'm just nuts.......

While I like the Camaro convertible's wheels better than the Mustangs, I have to disagree with the Z06/Mustang comparison.

The Mustangs in that comparison look much more interesting with the sharper edges than the smooth generic looking ones on the Z06.

I first thought they looked like the GTO wheels.
I like them.
There are a few differences than those on the Mustang.
They resemble a modernized 82-84 Z28 wheel.

I don't think that's where they came from. I'd say that they were inspired by the early SS "Mag" wheel covers from the '60s. I don't have a pic handy, but if you do a search you should find them. Same source as the "Redline" detail on the wheels. No Mustang required.

THANK YOU!

I was thinking the same thing.

And those of course where made to mimick the drag racing mags of the day.

My pleasure. The SS version of the wheelcover is even closer, especially when redline tires were used.

I was looking for a picture of a 67 Camaro SS with them, but couldn't find one online. (I know there's a photo in one of my many Camaro books.)

I was looking for that around the time that I made my first post in this thread, but for some reason I was thinking it was on early GTOs, and not Chevelles. Thanks for easing my nagging mind on that one.
