Where is your purchase-o-meter pegged?
#46
My buying meter is pegged at 11. Ive been in love with this car since the first showing of the Camaro movie that night at the GM event before Camaro's debut in Detroit.
Its interior looks good, and if the quality peaks up, I can only expect the best interior in its class. Thank you GM for giving me a 3rd Camaro to add to my collection.

I swear Al, that movie at the Heritage Center we saw the night before the debut, gave me goosebumps and almost brought me to tears. The early design images of the concept, interspersed with that dramatic music and film clips of '68 Z/28 in the heat of battle of a Trans Am road race - man alive, it just pushed all my buttons.

To expand on that memory a bit further, we should all meet back up next year at NAIAS for the true production version as Im sure it will be there.

I think it would be constructive to share some comments on the spy pics from Cheryl Pilcher.
The IVER (prototype) cars are really rough. In some respects, it's certainly not the car that you want to have spy photos taken. But hopefully the enthusiast community's take-away will be that the concept car design integrity has been maintained. The IVER cars were built off of very, very early math data so there have been many good changes and further refinement since that point in time.
To give everyone a point in time reference... the IVER cars were completed some time ago. (I'm guessing late 2Q07/early 3Q07). We're just seeing them now outside of GM property.

I was finally over the retro exterior and decided I could live with it provided we got a modern(gto/c6) themed interior. It is obvious that gm is on retro overload with this car which makes me want to vomit.
I can safely say I will not be buying this car or even consider it.

Need more data to decide. Will the hodge-podge interior get cleaned up? What are those shelfs doing in the rear? What are the color choices? What will the V8 car weigh? What will the price be? What if gas will be $4/gal in spring of 09? What will the fuel mileage be for the V8? Will premium fuel be required? Where will interest rates be? What will insurance cost? Will the OnStar operators nag me to change the oil? And last but not least: Are we sure there will not be a fish mouth grill?

And a few more: Does anyone know what a 2009 or 2010 Mustang GT will MSRP for and how many horespower will it have? Will the thin spoked wheels on the white car be production style? Will any head room be lost to a power sunroof? Will I be able to find a comfortable driving position? What will the economic climate be in Q109? Will we have a woman or muslum president by the time the car comes out? Or what if the candidate wins that wants to abolish the IRS (no income tax) and add a 23% federal sales tax on all purchases? Too many questions to be answered to make a decision now.

No one really knows what the resale value will be on a 5th gen Camaro. Back in 05 and 06, the Mustangs kept their value incredibly well. I got a cheap 24 month lease on an 04 GTO, gave it back and picked up a slightly used 05 GTO in 06 and sold it last year. I'm looking at low mile used 06 GTOs now and think I can get one for about $22-23 grand. I just dont know if the new V8 Camaro will be worth another $200/mo. over the payment of an 06 GTO which has IRS, 400hp, excellent road manners and a very nice interior.
