Why can't we?...

Why can't we?...
BVrider in the house! Ok,I've posted this in another thread but here's an argument I want to make. The Mustang has all these models GT,Saleen, Cobra etc. So why can't Camaro have all it's forms brought to the party?
A V6 model, mid-level V8, performance V8, and our SUPER V8? And moreover, why do they have to be SS and Z28? Can't they just be dubbed Camaro or how bout Camaro Z and Camaro S, or something different?Or why not have Z28 and SS both be the performance V8, both of them equal not better than the other, and then designate the Super Camaro as something totally different. Because as Camaro enthusiasts,we should be united.No division even if it's playful.In my mind the Camaro has been off the hill long enough...so to speak.And it's time for the Camaro to regain it's title and throne as the KING OF THE HILL! Do ya feel me? Just some thoughts of mine. And a little shout out to the homies who got love for the RS. And to all the Camaro lovers here.

Re: Why can't we?...
The Camaro has had special designations from the factory and outside that were more than SS, RS and Z/28. In 1969 (And once in the 80s), Yenko Chevrolet produced Yenko Camaros with a 427 iron block and Yenko Decals. There have also been Baldwin Motion Camaros produced too. As well, there has been Berlinetta and IROC designation from the factory and the ZL-1, 1LE and B4C packages.
As it stands, unfortunately the car has not even officially been approved for production. I'm sure GM has something up its sleeve for when/if it does and we will be satisfied that there will be a GT fighter, a Saleen fighter and a Cobra fighter, even if outsourced to SLP, Baldwin or a Yenko equivalent.

Re: Why can't we?...
using anything but RS, SS and Z28 is just plain wrong...and ridiculous. Either Z28 or SS will be top. We cannot decide, so just deal with it.
Volkswagon and Porsche use "S" BTW. These days alot of cars just have alpha numeric "names" dumb. Or trim levels, like "SE", "LX"--they don't REALLY mean very much.
Honda ****** out "Special editon" like its going out of style. And all it means are a/c, crusie and floormats for a few bucks off (something like that)
SS, RS and Z28 mean something and have incredible heritage. Abandoning that would be a very foolish move.
Chevy is using the SS name on others cars, (agree or disagree, they all have some pretty decent kick and don't break the bank!) so for the Camaro not to have an SS version makes no sense.

Re: Why can't we?...
saleen is out of house, its just that Mustang has had more of a factory backing than Camaro.
Though Camaro had SLP..and so on.
If say Baldwin's new company came in and did an in house deal with GM to make factory back Baldwin Motion Camaros like Saleen...then you will get the idea.
The reason Mustang sold so many diffrent models is the popularity of the V6..you had the Cobra the MACh1 and so on they sold them cus there were so many base models sold.
Thats why you dont have 2 diffrent models of the GTO

Re: Why can't we?...
Well, GM is going for a "modern car with retro inspiration" so perhaps a cool name for the extremely top end model may be due. I don't know, maybe a shout-out to pontiac by calling the GT-500 competition something like "Camaro Firehawk" or "Camaro Phoenix Edition" or "SuperHawke". Just some guesses here.

Re: Why can't we?...
I mean it in a way like all the other cars use it.
You dont hear anyone say "I have an '06 Impala LS" or "03 Chevy Silverado LT." That part is left out. They would just be for base Camaro with premium interior trim and sound equpment.

Re: Why can't we?...
why are you people making such a huge deal about this???
it is this easy...
Camaro = V6 base
RS = V6 (or mid-level v8) + Cosmetic add-ons
Z28 = V8 (probably ls2) + Bigger wheels all that good stuff.
SS = Z28 plus nicer hood, wheels etc.
ZL1= Cobra killer. (with a detuned LS7 ie 10 horses less than the Z06 )
that's a little for everyone to be happy with. You have your base v-6 for everyone.. a mid level v8 and high-performance V8 and the overkill ZL1 for anything Ford or Dodge might try to fight us with.
