Its not a good point. The cars offers no B pillar, therefore a targa top would mean lots of support needed in the rear quarter to support the rear part of the roof. Convertibles just need added support underneath the car. 2 totally different animals. T-tops/Targa with no B-pillar would mean a very heavy car.

No t-tops is going to **** off many...
Especially if the '07 Mustang has them. Consider that...
If a convertible can pass a roll over test, why the HELL can't a t-top or targa topped coupe? Its BS to sit here and say they CAN'T do it. The question is WILL they. 80% of '02 Camaro buyers asked for them. I wouldn't be foolish enough to ignore that...I don't care what GM's excuse is.

Re: Will the new Camaro be able to have a t-top option?
Personally, either ttops or targa would be perfectly fine for me. I have found that a sunroof just doesn't give the "outside" experience and is just another option to suck money out of you. But one thing comes to mind.......some friends of mine have 4th gen with ttops and complain about horrid gas mileage when ttops are down, can anybody confirm this?? I'm all for removable tops but isn't GM going for the muscle car with gas mileage image? I would hate to see a magazine critic tear into the camaro's mpg rating credibility just because he had the tops down the whole time he was testing the car.

Well, as someone who has had a hard top car.(93 Camaro z28) A Ttop car(96 RS) a convertable (94 Mustang) and two cars with sunroofs (98 Cavy, Cobalt) I believe that the best opition was the TTops.
Sunroofs are the worst option when comes to open air. IMHO. I dont care if does make it "classier or more expensive" I want a fun car.

Re: Will the new Camaro be able to have a t-top option?
Newbie here but I have been lurking for some time.
Bought my first F Body in 1984 at the ripe old age of 15
for $1200.00. It was a 1968 Camaro Z/28 RS. I restored it then when
I graduated I bought a 1969 SS Coonvertible. I sold that one right before I got married and bought a 1969 Cougar with 47K on it. After I had kids I had to sell the Cougar and bought a 1995 Firebird Convertible.
O.K. now to my reply after my brief introduction. I am going to buy a new Camaro Convertible when they come out with a V8 in it.
As for T-Tops, from an economic standpoint it would make sense for GM to include them in some way. However, if they could offer a convertible option for about the same price or maybe a little more than a T-Top option I think it would fly. Convertible's are really coming back and my 95 is so much more quiet and leak proof than my 69 was. Yes technology has gotten better with regards to convertibles. My buddy had a 4th gen bird and his T-Tops always leaked and were a pain in the A$$. His quote not mine. He wished he would have opted for a Vert instead. I personally get 23 MPG on the Highway with the top down or up and around the same in the city. Will not having a T-Top option really make people not want one when they can get a Vert? Just a thought.
