Will you buy the first year or wait?

You know the old saying "never buy the first model year".I'm not trying to shoot it down but I paid attention to GTO's and the first year had several problems that were fixed in 05 plus what about that power increase! Look at the 67,many problems rectified plus more engine choices in 68/69.82 had the infamous crossfire setup.70 is hard to put in the same league,it is by far my favorite starter.

I'd buy the first year if the Z/28 or SS model were to be offered.. but I plan to wait at least a year... gives me more $$ for a downpayment too

Re: Will you buy the first year or wait?

well, if the car does come out in MY2009 (fall 2008) i probably won't be able to buy it then.. my car is paid off in august 2009, so i'll probably get it the second year

it doesnt really depend on "the old saying" for me.. it depends on when i can afford it

Definetly not buying the first year for me.

It will be tempting and difficult not to though......

Re: Will you buy the first year or wait?

I want to buy first year, I'd like to have the newest hottest thing for once. However if they don't offer a pretty mean "top dawg" version or if there are rumors near/at launch time that the next year will get a big increase in power or a new model with higher output, I might wait.

I hadn't really thought about it before now, but are there hints that neither the Z28 or SS will be available right away, or even at all in the first year? I'm not buying some RS or other posuer junk... I'm expecting at least a LS1-level 350+ hp (hopefully more like LS2-level 400ish hp) Z28 or SS...

Of course it all comes down to whether I can afford it or not at the time, I want to get one as soon as I can though... Will be my first brand new car if all goes according to plans, unmolested by others and totally mine, and hopefully I'll keep it for a long long time...

How can you ask a question like that about a car that nobody has even seen yet?

Maybe lease a 1st year and buy a 2nd year "topdog"? It really depends on a lot of things yet unknown

Re: Will you buy the first year or wait?

I bought a 93, and while have the newest car was very cool, it didn't last long. Back then I paid MSRP, now I'm sure to get this car first you will have to pay even more. Then add to all that, the usual first year bugs, and I will probably wait till year two at least.

But it's gonna be damn hard!!!
