I'd suggest informing them all of the situation. You will only get one, so come up with a creative way to see who gets it, then help the other two locate theirs, then they will still be customers even after they bought elsewhere (with your help). I know I would.

help them buy somewhere else? c'mon, thats like calling Summit racing to see if they can lower the price of a part and then tell the people at Jegs so they'll meet it and beat it.

i say, on a car that is highly wanted as that, you bid it off to the highest bidder. its a business.

I think you should follow suit of how people have to buy tickets to a big attraction rock concert like the Rolling Stones, internet notwithstanding. No matter what time you get into line, you receive a lottery ticket and those who are picked in random order are next to buy tickets, no matter what their place in line is, no matter how much money they bring, and everyone will pay the listed price per ticket.

For that one single Chalenger, inform the three perspective buyers of the day the car will be on the lot. They should all arive before you open, but they really don't need to get there too early since there's only 3 of them. Run a lottery and the one who you pick wins.

That's fair for everyone. It's not the dealers fault or responsibility that the MFG is keeping production limited.

They completely screwed up the new mustang with this, I remember seeing the boards where people had been pre-approved for a loan for the base model GT and were ready to put down 1-2k or more to cover options and taxes etc, but couldn't for months because dealers were all charging a premium. I wonder how many units they lost because of this.

I think GM should discourage it by granting orders to those who don't do it first, or demand 50% or more of the mark up. Because the way I see it, the guys developing the car through to the guys building it on the line should see that extra money, not the sheister who is selling it to you who was selling VW's last week.

I, personally, have nothing against dealers. I've never purchased a 'hot ticket' vehicle, so had never even heard of 'Market Adjustment' or selling a vehicle over MSRP until I came to these forums. I won't speak bad about any dealer near me (other than the Ford one where the dealer actually told me he had recently had someone pay thousands over the price of whatever model Mustang it was they'd had in. To which I kindly replied I'd never pay over MSRP for anything.

Anyway, that said, IMO yes it is bad business to accept more money than you KNOW the vehicle is really valued at. The vehicle should go to first come, first served imo. Whoever came in/comes in first should get the vehicle.

its a business. people are going to pay what it's worth. MSRP does not determine value or worth. its good business. bad business is leaving money on the table.

Exactly. Just because we're all fanatical about the Camaro and would like to think that fellow Camaro enthusiasts wouldn't rip us off, dealerships are a business afterall. Also, who's to say that the salespeople selling us our Camaros are even Camaro fans/enthusiasts/etc.

Are dealers that charge over MSRP any different they eBay scalpers?

The price the dealers pay for the cars do not change, yet they charge more for them. I think this is the reason most people have a problem with it. If anyone is going to make more then MSRP on the cars it should be Chevy, not the individual dealerships.

ya they SHOULD get a portion or something. but with these mark ups, if people werent WILLING to pay them, they wouldnt be there. there is enough competition from competing dealers to where if there wasnt a market for these "market adjusted" vehicles, the prices would and will come down.

not really, I have seen high demand cars sit for months due to "Market Adjustment". Are cars sitting for months "good for business"?

If Pontiac dealers sold out of the Solstice in less than a month, do you think GM maybe would have considered upping production?
