yes but i plan on purchasing a volt for my daily driver. 6$ still is getting bad but the euro folks pay ~10$ per gallon

Gas is already near $5 per gallon here and I drive a V8 Tahoe that gets 15mpg average every day. A 6.2L V8 Camaro, even if its supercharged, would be an improvement.

Same situation for me, only the vehicle is a Ram 4.7 V8.

Pending actual mpg ratings I would see no reason why not. If it gets near my current 2000 z28 for the base v8, why not? So you end up paying maybe what, a $50 premium a month versus the v6? Of course that part depends on temptation and daily driving habits. I would take that in a flash for the feel, sounds, and sheer power upgrade. I figure I don't smoke, hardly ever have a drink, think caffeine is the devil, so gas is part of my hobby/vice. Those couple bucks a day saved from there goes into my car for gas or upgrades, etc.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it passes $6 in the near future and keeps rising. People are too stupid to get together and make a difference until it directly hits their daily life very hard. Yes, it's getting to that point, but not exactly where the average person actually can't buy it. You just have to give up other things (like less groceries, maybe it's a secret war on obesity)... The select few that can make a difference alone could care less and long as their pockets are lined.

You can join one of my soon to be subset groups that will make intelligence a requirement in Washington ONCE AGAIN! VIVA LA REVOLUTION! lol If the country isn't gone by 2020 I will be running for pres. Politicians suck! Vote ME!

I'll be buying a V8 Camaro, and I will have a smaller, more fuel-efficient car for a daily driver. The Camaro will be my "fun" car, in a gas-guzzling, tire-shredding kind of way.

does anyone know if mustang sales have been hurt in a similar aspect as truck sales due to $4 gas? I think that would be a good way to determine how well the new camaro is going to do in this slow market.

It costed my wife $2 per day more to drive her Yukon than me to drive a V6 Altima. $30 more every two weeks. $2 per day doesn't buy a decent coffee. We both drove 20 miles per day.

No point in getting a V6. I'll stick to V8s until electric motors become mainstream.

Count me in with you guys.

But the problem with that as I see it though, is if droves of people don't see the Camaro as a sporty yet sensible choice, it may not get the volume it needs to survive long.

Long enough for GM to make money off the enthusiast crowd, and possibily long enough to get you your alpha-Camaro.

Of course.

But the question is, what constitutes an fuel efficient package to the consumer. I'd suspect that they might be more demanding on that issue at 5 bucks per gallon than at 2 bucks.
