I'm going with 587. And since the person that sets the number is probably reading this thread, I wanted to let you know that there will be a little something for you if I win.

So yeah, price is right style may seem silly when you are 1 over and closest is 10 under, but it immediately solves the problem when they are equidistant.
In the event that the exact number is not declared in an entry, but two entries have the same difference in number from the official horsepower number (for example, the official number is 575, and one entry is 573 and another entry is 577...both 2 away from the official number) the person who chose closest without going over ("The Price is Right" style) will be declared the winner.
This is what makes doing contests sucky.
I try to keep it simple and it gets complicated anyway! It was originally "everyone post a freakin' number" and now this! All in good fun...
