Z/28 engine poll.

So we're debating this in multiple threads.

Here's the question - Which best fits the spirit of a 5th gen Z/28..... a heavier, thirstier 500 hp Gen IV supercharged 6.2 or a lighter, more compact, normally aspirated, direct injection 500 hp Gen V 6.2?

camaros have never been force fed. They are known for thier NA power. Leave factory FI to mustangs and euromobiles.

None of the above.....

Save the 500 horsepower for the SS. It'll be heavier and have a bunch of equipement I don't want. Just like the GT500.

The Z/28 should be the true enthusiasts machine, with as much weight savings as possible, an affordable (relatively) price, a nice clean revving NA V-8, a tighter suspension than the SS, etc. Cuz it's not about overall power, it's about balance. SS is the ****-fast cruiser and Z/28 is the road course warrior.

In all honesty I'd like to see a small displacement V-8 that can have the hell revved out of it. Like a version of the 5.3 that'll go to 7000rpm like the Z06 motor.

But I know we'll probably get the LS3. Which I certainly wouldn't complain about.

In any case....it should be N/A

Count me in for a na SBC, having bought a '69 Z/28 when they came out, the na version to me fits the heritage and makes the most sense for what a Z/28 should be, a lean, mean handling machine.

Are you guys forgetting that the LS7 (that's a 7.0L, remember ) revs to 7000 RPM, makes 500 HP, and is the exact same size externally as a 5.3L?!

I'm not trying to say that I would "expect" an LS7 in the Z/28 Camaro (had my pee-pee slapped enough times for the fact that "the LS7 is too expensive and won't be in production anymore " ) but my point is, there is no advantage to running a "lean, small displacement" engine, if we're looking for high-revving capability. GM already did that with 7 litres!!!

Point being? Give us a high-revving version of the 6.2L, naturally aspirated, to the tune of ~500 HP ..... and I'll be happy as a pig in $h!t!!

I'd love to see a 400-450hp 5.7...I like being able to say "350". But other than that...no supercherging if they can help it, otherwise...I'll take it

Id like to see a DI'ed 500hp 6.2. Maybe there will be a 3rd or 4th V8 Camaro? SS LS3, Z28 DI 6.2, and a ZL1 6.2 SC'ed motor making 600hp?

Where has it been set in stone that the supercharged Z/28 engine would not be Gen V?

N/A for me, but I'll take the 500hp engine either way probably.

Okay, let's say they're both Gen V's. Why take the 500 horse SC's one over the 500 horse NA one?

My vote is for super charged. The way that those Mustangs run with a pulley and a few boltons I def. want a supercharged engine and I hope they build it as well as Ford so it can be tweaked to over 600Hp with boltons.

I'm gonna go ahead and guess because they aren't scheduled to be built for a few years yet...and....the only hints of Gen V's so far have been N/A

The wording of the question definitely skews the poll results to your liking, don't you think?

Still, I agree that I would rather have a big-cube naturally aspirated motor. I think I've said that multiple times.
