The Z/28's benchmark should be.....

I haven't driven a GT500 or the newest M3, but when I see a GT500 going down the street it looks like a lumbering ox.
The BMW dealer down the street from my office appears to be giving joy rides with it's new M3. Not only does it look completely badass with it's optional, forged 19" wheels, but when it's V8 screams to 8 grand or so - oh dear Lord, it gives me goosebumps.

Damn, I voted GT500, but like we have discussed many times before, I felt the Z/28 should have been a lighter weight, high revving naturally aspirated smallblock (ala M3). Leaving the SC'd, hp monster as the boulevard cruiser SS. Oh well, won't be the first Z28 I've owned, hopefully not the last either.

In that respect , M3 all the way . FWIW ....I think GM will not screw this part up when track performance is concerned . Now , what I am concerned about is having the amazing track handling performance while also rolling that over into a finely polished street car ...accomplish that and smile I will .

The top end camaro should target its driving performance/experiance at the base vette.
After all its supposed to be the cheaper 4 seat vette little brother right?
The GT500 was made to be ford halo car in competition with the vette/ viper without the inconvience of lacking a back seat. (Yes YES YES I know it doesnt even come close but thats the crowd its marketed to). So in essence by benching the gt500 you indirectly bench it against the vette.
All in all this is really not really more than a figurtive want topic/poll, We know they used a mustang gt500 as well as the base V6/GT as benchmarks. And you can bet your sweet paycheck that they will nabbing one of each of the challenger trims when they become available..thats what every car company does, tear them apart and see what they can improve and incorporate into thier own designs legally.

I haven't driven an M3 in a long time. When I did however, I kept thinking that I wished GM could distill and bottle all of it's goodness and add it to the next Z/28, then I'd be a happy man.
And I'm not talking about creating a $56,000 Camaro either. I'm talking about the M3's essence. The way it steers and brakes. The way it's suspension responds to your every input. The way the throttle connects you to the motor. Really, it's incredible.
That's what I want from a Z/28. And the GT500 couldn't be farther away from that.
