2011 camaro

How come no one is talking about the 2011 camaro? Does anyone know if there is going to be any changes hp wise and weight. With the 2011 mustang coming out Chevy has to step up and do something, either power or weight wise? Right?

No changes for power,

Interior will get a full nav option and maybe a hud too.

But yes the 2011 GT will prob be faster in a straight line because it has a live axle and also weighs less.

it is kind of disappointing that nothing is going to be done to make sure the camaro beats the mustang in every spec of performance. Oh well i was reading that the 5.0 wont be very responsive to mods due to it is kind of maxed out from the factory. When i say mods i mean bolt ons like exhaust cai, and stuff. Its going to be a hell of a run i was looking at power weight ratios mustangs got in on hp and looses it on torque. still will be close. Also, they are saying its going to run low 12's i find that hard to believe because that is getting into gt500 territory

Everything we know is rumor at this point anyway. It's way too early to be disappointed.

If the rumors are true, then Camaro will still have more horsepower than Mustang, and we don't know for sure what Mustang's weight or gearing will be, so we don't know what the actual performance is going to be.

thats true! they are saying the it only weighs 10 pounds more then the 2010 mustangs. I find that hard to believe bigger motor. Plus 6spd instead of 5spd. Plus other things to beef up parts to handle extra hp.

And for Ford's sake, I hope it's true. That'll be one badass car, and we'll have to wait and see what Chevy can come up with for the 6th gen.

Camaro doesn't have to beat the Mustang in every category to be competitive. That was one of the problems that got GM into trouble the last time. As for the 5.0 not responding to mods, that is all speculation. When was the last time a manufacturer put a tune that wasn't on the safe side? With the variable cam technology and some of the better tuners out there I believe that a tune could yield some spectacular gains. CAI's and cat backs may only net minor gains but that's all they're getting on Camaro's too.

The engine itself weighs about 15 lbs more than the outgoing 3V according to Car and Driver. I read elsewhere (can't remember where) that they had Getrag build the 6 spd to minimize size and weight. Other than those items, the Brembo's, and a beefed up crossmember, the car is nothing more than a '10 GT track pack. I would have to put this car at 3650 lbs max. That would be roughly 70 lbs over the '10 model.

this is all part of the fun in the competition. i like a chase more than being chased....... so if the mustang is quicker in the 1/4 mile(supposedly), it will just make it that much sweeter when you beat it at the track.

yeah but my biggest point and feeling is that this isn't a pony car anymore. Why not put 2 more doors on it at this point? GM should have cars like dodge the charger challenger and viper. aka malibu ss , camaro and vette but the camaro be old school pony car

that is a retarded statement imo... what makes it not a pony car? im also confused on what your saying it should become? add more doors? make it more of a charger-like vehicle? i think the camaro is way more of a pony car than the challenger

chevy should make cars like dodge, the challanger(camaro) and viper(corvette) and the charger(RIP G8 Gxp). im lost by your statement too. last i heard the g8 platform was going to be used as a lumina or some other name plate. can you clearify what you mean here?????

I guess the point I am trying to get at is they should stop trying to make the camaro a luxury car. Its overweight the camaro was orginally a pony car. First thing that comes to mind when i say pony car is light car big motor.

luxury???? i dont know that i would call it luxury but it does have a nicer look to the interior than the 4th gen, if thats called luxury. the cars back in the day werent as light as you think they were. and they werent as quick as they are now. there arent too many camaros in history that are nearly as fast as this car. the only one i can think of that may be close is a COPO camaro. and good luck getting one of those. this car runs 1/4 in less than 13 sec. and 0-60 in less than 5. camaros in the 60's and any muscle car in the 60's, were running 15- 16 sec 1/4 miles. and this is with the "luxury" you speak of.

2010 camaro = amazing product. 2011...hope nothing much changes. plain and simple...why would anyone be attracted to a car (mustang) you see on every corner of every street and at every coffee shop in the city??? why o why o why?? I drove all summer last year and saw maybe 6-7 camaros....I am sure most days I saw 6-7 mustangs....The car is timeless in design and staggering in performance....so the new 5.0liter will be fast? honestly guys....how much faster?? and with a few well placed dollars could I not get my SS to keep up....Camaro vs Mustang...appeal score ...camaro wins it hands down no matter if mustang "might be a little quicker...
