theres your problem... Test drive a car like your gonna drive it when you own it. If they complain or wont let you drive it like that go to a different dealer.

Re: Disapointed

2 things:

1.) Wait until after the break-in period to pass judgement. When I first got my 2010 automatic, it was a dog too. It wouldn't spin the tires at all. Now after 5,000 miles and a fuse pull, it spins the tires no problem and will start to fishtail with all the nannies turned off.

2.) The dynamics of the car are different and through casual observation, it seems like it has a smoother, but more long-lasting acceleration. For example, you could really feel my old 2000 Camaro SS "kick in" at about 3,000 RPM but then the acceleration gradually "died down". My 2010 Camaro is more the opposite, it takes a while for the acceleration to kick in, but then it steadily increases.

I had the EXACT same issue. car felt slow....my 350hp 01 vette felt sooo much faster. the dealer said these LS#s are wound tight and need time....I waited....my car now has 14,000kms (8000 miles).....and she runs hard and fast....BIG difference. no worries....run it hard ...rev it and break it in properly....lots of up and down on the revs accelerate...decelerate....different gears ...different revs....it will get a lot quicker but they do feel different from the old cars....

Re: Disapointed

I was juggling the idea of trading in my 2008 Corvette, for a new camaro, due to its four seats for the family, nice car don't get me wrong, but I was shocked on how slow it was compared to my vette, the camaro even had the ls3 like my vette. I honestly was shocked

Re: Disapointed

Sounds like the delivery and salesman was lacking a little it. Typical "See you keys, see your Camaro, see you later" new car delivery.

I offer lessons to those who buy a car from me, if needed, to do Dale Earnhardt Jr. quality burnouts.

Either that, or the dealer put SS badges on an LS, and found a buyer....?

Re: Disapointed

so I test drove a 2012 v6 with the manual 6 spd with 15 miles on it today, and honestly my current 2000 v6 camaro felt faster even though there's suppose to be a 100+ HP difference. SO do they have a programmed break-in with v6's too?? Man no posts on this since feruary, this is sad.

so I listened, but i still dont know if the cars are programmed to have a break-in period and have reduced power or it is just because of mechanical drag???

I test drove a 2012 v6 manual today with 15 miles, and I didn't get it over 5,000 rpm but my old 2000 v6 feels a lot faster. I need to test drive a used one tp figure out why it ws so slow. I loved everything else about car.

To the best of my knowledge there is nothing like that on these cars. I will say that the camaro might feel slow but I know they can be deceptive when compared to older cars. The older ones weren't as well built and feel like you're going 100 when it's only 60 and these are the opposite. If you're not careful you're looking at triple digits and you didn't even realize it.

Re: Disapointed

My uncle's Z06 has 426 hp and does the 1/4 in 11.78. The Camaro has the same and comes no where close to that. HP numbers and how a car performs vary from car to car.

C5 Z06 at 426 rwhp is about is ~475 ish fwhp and 3250-3300 lbs

C6 Z06 at 426 rwhp is inlikely, but the weight about 3200 lbs

5th Gen has 426 fwhp (about 375 ish rwhp and weighs 3900ish lbs

It is not reallty shocking. It is down on power and much heavier than your cited example.
