out the top for mine, i have a QTP lift plate that should work nice, also i am going to be removing the trans first because to change the converter on the new 6 speed auto trans you have the have the trans in a fixture and facing straight up because the converter shaft seal in located inside the converter and if you leave the trans sitting horizontal you can wreck the seal, the converter needs to be pulled straight up with some special t-handles that screw into the converter bolt holes

eh, its not that bad. I had NEVER done anything like that before I did mine. Never done an engine build or even a removal before. the key is to do what jay is doing and have one ready to go for a shorter turn around time.

thats some good info to know. I haven't owned an automatic in a long time, and never worked on one either. If I ever get a chance to buy a 5th gen, I will still have a hard time deciding to get a manual or auto.

that high.

had about 1/2 inch room between the back/top of the intake and the bottom of the rad support. did it when i was 17 with a 200 dollar set of craftsman tools and jackstands and 2 jacks, 1 borrowed.

its definitely easier this way if your dropping the tranny too, next time i will probably just tear the motor down to a shortblock still in the car then yank that out through the top. theres pro's and cons to doing it like this, a major con, for me anyway is you cant move(roll) the car around with no k memeber

as long as the supports under the stands are good, you should be fine. I had my rear wheels sitting on my old salad shooters and tires, so the pivot wasn't as bad. one of these days ill remember to post pics.

Comaro Engine

I just checked out the new Comaro. Here's what I've noticed. Almost
every forum out there there's must be so many young dudes that's never
taken apart and engine and then there's some that have.

Why would General Motors make the new motor so complicated??? It's incased
in aluminum and stainless steel??? They've made it tiresome to work on?

Why would they do this? It's not a Ferrari...

It's a New Comaro that will compete with the 05-11 Mustangs.

Granted the 2005-2011 Mustangs are easy to work on, why not make the Comaro the same way???

I believe if General Motors doesn't get a handle on the accessability of the mechanical components they will eventually run off buyers down the road.

Ford made there Mustangs easy as cake to upgrade and replace mileage parts...

Watch and learn boys. Look at the screws encasing the engine in the photos.

It's

This isn't Star Trek. It's the good ol' "U. S. of A."

Peace out Comaro lovers and good luck.
the dumbest post ive seen today! you busy playing with die cast cars and plastic models to make that judgement?

I'm wondering, you know those new safety standards on car for frontal impact. Doesn't it require the engine to drop after impact.

I picked the front of my car up with a cherry picker and lifted it off the motor, then set it onto stands

Camaro z28 - hilarious "but due soon"

Don't get all teary eyed guys.
I'm just a ford guy seeing if i could **** off chevy guys. It's
obviously a touchy subject.

I do however have one question for you camaro lovers out there:

Why would anyone be so excited about tearing an engine out of a
car that hasn't even hit the sales lot yet?

Is the camaro not strong enough to stand on it's own that you
have to remove the engine?

I thought camaro's could hold their own? Are you all worried
about trying to fix it already?

Camaro z28 vs shelby

Late model mustang gt's to have 6.2l 400+hp v8's.

There aren't any forums about tearing out mustang motors...

I wonder why?

Who will sponsor camaro? Roush?

Shelby could help maybe.

Some people want more than 426hp? not really that touchy of a subject

like I said, some people just want more power....whats wrong with that?

I thought camaro's could hold their own? Are you all worried

just a trolling comment....

I guess no mustang owner has ever or will ever pull their motor out?
there aren't really a whole lot pertaining to the 5th gen camaro, I was just curious. I can think of this one and one other off the top of my head. maybe someone wants to build one with a lower CR that can handle a lot of boost.

there are quite a few tuners/builders who are already developing their cars.

what is a ford guy even doing on this site? are you maybe looking to jump ship to a fast car? how exactly does one become a ford guy? seriously cause you've been losing to chevys for the longest time. we also dont need to run turbos or blowers to be considered "fast" and show me one mod motor with 500whp all motor. i guarantee you can't i could honestly write forever on how silly fords are. oh yea have you seen the new 370z? it has more horsepower then your pustang and 2 less cylinders.

**** off.
