160 or 180 thermostat

Re: 160 or 180 thermostat
I have a question to this that is on topic. I swapped in a 160 thermostat into my 5.0 305. While driving my car runs real cool. If I set in a traffic jam for too long it begins to over heat. Any idea on what I should do? If i'm in real slow stop and go traffic it over heats, but if I drive it cools off real quick. I know for a fact atleast 1 fan is kicking on.

Re: 160 or 180 thermostat
when you say over heat, is it going past 220*?
Without reprogramming the primary fan to turn on sooner, the car will still hit 220* while sitting still since that is when the fan comes on.
On my car with 160stat and the fan reprogrammed, it will still go to 220 on a hot day if I am in traffic, but when I switch on the secondary fan manually, the car lowers back down to 170 or so. On cooler days (under 80* outside) my car stays at 170 or so with just the primary fan controlled by the ecm while idling.
Secondary fan is controlled by a temp sensor in the pass side head as well as the A/C controls.

Oh yea, if i'm not careful it'll go to maxed out. I'm not worried about it going to 220 i'm worried about when it goes over. I try not to let it get there. What if I wired my secondary fan to my first fan? So they just both came on at the same time. I'm in Louisiana and in the summer it gets HOT so i'm worried i'm going to have a major over heating problem.
