1990 irocz 305 ci

hi I'm Justin I'm confused about my 90 iroc z. I bought
it from a guy and it run good until the next morning. I
got 8 miles down the road and died. When I got it home
we checked the fire to the spark plug and 1357 have
good fire and 2468 had a little fire but it wasn't
constant, it would skip so we changed the plugs and
wires and that didn't work. So we changed the
distributer from top to bottom and the coil and that
didn't work. We changed the computer and that didn't
work and almost all the sencer like the tps sencer and
the iac valve and we checked the fuel presser and it
is 45 lbs. When you turn it over it drops to 38 which I
was told thats ok and more we do to it the worst it
gets, but know it just spins but fire on one side and
not so good fire on the other and yes it still jumps
fire. We checked the timing and its good. Now here is
one thing we have tried and I dont think it messed
anything up. We took from the fuel meter and the hose
that is called the release hose and put it in the
front of the tune port where your iac valve there is a
hole in the bottom of the tune port. We put gas there and put the k&n
filter back on and the hose is in the hole and as long
as my dad kept feeding the fuel there it would run, but
as soon as my dad stopped it would die and after we
changed the iac valve it wouldn't hit a lick. So if
you could help me please i would be happy I've been
working on this car for about 3 months and I want it
to run and its tpi 305 ci 90 model irocz thank you
Justin

Whoa. Welcome to the board. A little FYI: Use proper punctuation and no >'s. Your point will get across a lot clearer and you'll get your answer quicker. I don't exactly understand what's going on. Sounds like you changed everything regarding ignition. You said as long as he kept feeding it fuel it ran, so the problem may lie there. Fuel pump? Fix your post and I'll try again. Later man

if it was the filter wouldnt that effect the pressure as well? just wondering? if fuel has to be fed to the engine to get it to run then it must not be getting enough, which i would assume would mean that the ignition is fine. im wondering if maybe it has something to do with the injectors not doing their job or i may be way off course and no help to you. but i was thinking i heard somebody say before that there were ground wires for the injector harness that has to be well grounded or they may not fire. maybe that would be something to check into? it is just a suggestion. i dont know for sure im not a master mechanic or anything but thats what comes to mind.

hope this helps in some way,

Nick J

I've seen plenty of fuel pumps run too slowly to provide enough fuel volume to run. Pressure that falls off badly is a good sign that the pump isn't cutting it.
But first, check the filter.
Then the voltage at the fuel tank on the pumps hot wire. For every 1volt drop, the pump will lose 10% of its capacity.
Check the color and condition of the spark plugs, they can tell you a lot.
Check the magnet in the distributor, my was cracked up and I had a bad miss the ended with stalling.(Swap a "known good" distributor.TBI car, Truck etc...)
Pulling the hose off of the Fuel Pressure Regulator will maximize fuel pressure, if it runs check pressure while pnching each of the 2 fuel lines then both, while watching for pressure leak-down. That way you can check to see if the pumps check-ball is working, the regulator is good, or the injectors are leaking etc.
