As far as I know, the L98 (350) and the LB9 are pretty close to being alike, except heads, block, injectors and computer, and cam specs. Everything else should be the same as far as induction. Of course the L98 pushed more horsepower and wasn't ever mated with a t-5 from the factory, they came with only the auto.

get a 350... you'd be happier at the end when your modding up your car... you'll get more power from a 350 due to the larger ci's, than you would modding a 305. people who get 305's get it because it's manual... that, or they couldn't find a 350. you might expect to pay a little bit more for a 350... but once you take off the TPI and put an aftermarket intake (MR, HSR, SR), you'll be flying. thats the main problem with TPI... great low end torque, no top end power. change the intake and you wont be just another 350 on the street... you'll be the kid everyone's talking about because they can't catch you

also had alot more things.
suspension is better. factory tires were better. rear gear is better. better chance for 4 wheel disc brakes. nicer seats. higher speedo.....this could go on and on.
it's a much better car through and through, however if you get a deal or must have t-tops go with 305.

My car (LB9) is pretty quick for what it is. I have got a best of 14.8 out of it w/ only flowmasters and free mods. They are capable and when the right mods are done can perform as well as a 350.
Now, am I saying LB9's are faster. No, when you take two cars, one starting w/ more hp and put the exact same mods on them the one that started w/ more will still have more. (in most cases)But what I am saying is that I would not over look an awesome looking/running LB9 just because it doesnt have an L98

it definately depends on what your future plans are. when i bought mine it was to be my only car and it had to be fast. the two stock-stock just don't compare on any level.
getting the 350 has easily saved me thousands on other areas of parts swapping that i would have needed to do in the beginning. however had i known i was going to do what i have i definately would have went cheaper and got the 305. much like i said before if you have to have t-tops there is only one way to go.

I had a black 1991 Z28 w/ the 350 and liked it. If you want to win a few races here and there then a 350s the way to go. The 305s were good, but not like 350s. And if you like 1/4th style raceing, then u should keep the auto.
btw, the 350s also didnt have Ttops. i was fine w/o them. The 350 L98s are begging to be modified, they all have autos and hardtops, They have the perfect platform to make fast.

If you've got the money for a 6-speed, get an L98 car and put the T56 in. If you want to keep it pretty stock, maybe some bolt-ons, get a G92 (3.23) LB9 5-speed car. They are just about as quick as L98's and a lot more fun!

90-92 L98 350's didnt come with t-tops
if you want to race in the 1/4 mile, get an auto... if you want to race on the street rolling, get a manual so you can shift in the right gear at the speed your at. and since TPI has no top end really, racing rolling is kind of pointless. go with a 350 and keep it at the track.
