For 2K, How Fast Can I Go?
#16
First, go for a good tuneup, change all fluids, filters, spark plugs, cap rotor, wires etc. After that I would go for a full exhaust, emisions legal headers to a 3in catback exhaust using a high-flow cat. After that I would move onto rear-end gears. A good set of tires makes a big differance too. Your $2000 is probably going to run out about here, but I wouldn't start engine work untill this point. I would probably put what was left into suspention work though before even touching the motor.
Are you doing this work yourself? If your not your going to pay out your nose. Your TPI is going to start holding you back, so you will need to upgrade that, then you can do heads, cam all that stuff. Oh, and your going to have to start burning chips, throwing heads and a cam into a car with a stock chip will likely slow you down more than speed you up.
Also once you start getting more power, more things are going to start breaking, so don't spend all your money, because undoubtedly you will need some for repairs. And there will be downtime when you blow the tranny because it can no-longer handle the power, and things like that. So you will have to be able to live without a car, or have a backup.
