3.73gearbehind a L-98 350tpi

ok i got a 87 GTA i want to put a set of 3.73 gears in.
that should get from 0-45 rther fast shouldn't it.
or should i go to some 4.56's.
i think 3.73's should do me fine then i can run 65 under 3,000 rpm;'s in OD.prolly close ta 2,000 at 65.
gas milage ain't an issue here it's a GTA not a civic.
i want low milage and some pep in it's step.
put of the hole is all i'm going for.

i couldnt see ever going over 3.73's on a street car but anything over 4.11's is insane

Doug,
Don't you have 3.73's in your ride? How do you like them?

no for god sake if its a street car don't go with 4.56's. for one thing your speedo will be around 25 mph off another thing ****y gas milage cause cruising the highway you'll be at about 3500 at 65and last can't forget topping out at almost 115 mabye 120 at 5k if that. Anyways I wouldnt go higher then 3.73's for a street car I got 3.73's in mine and I like em. At 65 my rpms run about 2200 in OD. Just trying to save ya from making probably one of the worst decisions of your life

Well its a little hard to compare my 3.73 to anything because when i bought my car they already had them and ive never been driving in another camaro. I find that with my minor bolt ons theyre a lot of fun. When im at a stop light and am turning left if i give it half throttle ill put the car sideways no problem. They also give you a great seat of the pants feeling the only thing i dont like about them is how lame they feel at higher speeds. Ive taken my car up to 120 mph and when you get anywhere over 90 it feels like the car isnt accelerating any more. Anyways when i do my whole intake and heads and slap on a mini ram (yay for future plans) itll help me breathe better up there but theyre awesome out of the whole and great for letting you keep up with some of those lighter weight ricers off of the line. All in all i reccomend them i love the feeling when my car jumps from a stop light i just put a hairs weight on the pedal and my car JuMpS forward

3.42's and a 2800 stall. 3.73's are ok, but if you're daily driving the car... I like 3.42's

On my 3.23 with the stock motor I was getting abour 300 miles on a tank of gas. (13-14 gal). When I had my LPE 383, I got about the same with 3.73. When I tried 4.10, I got 200 miles on the same tank. I would not go past 3.73 unless you are drag racing with a totally different tranny.

3.73's would be perfect...with some 28" tall rear tires.

I'd use 3.42's with a 26" tall tire with an L98 engine for sure.

Transmission choice matters somewhat but considering 4.56 gears is pretty much out of the question. Goodluck

i'm just going for a decent east wash car i think the 3.73's would do fine. and it shouldn't kill tpo end at all.
that damn 350tpi will whined to 6,500 easy so i could still barry the needle with the 3.73's well after the speed sender is changed. like when i took my 91 from 3.73's to 4.11's.
i'll stay with the 235/55r16's might go to 255/50r16's not sure.
i really want to do 205/55's in the front and 235/55's in the rear. nice shory fat tires with 3.73 gears will be fine. it will be just an eastwash ave. car.no wait if it was just an ave. cari'd to 4.11's or 4.56's. 3.73's are good all around gears. they wiil run the high way fine with 25 to 26 inch wheel's when ya star hiting 27's and 28's i'd go to 4.11's.

the 3.42's won't give me what iwant it would be a waste of my time with 3.42's. no offence intended.
i like my street rod's to have 3.73's. my racey cars are 4.11'sor 4.44 gears. east wahs would be cool with 4.56's but i run the highway too so 4.56's not an option.
the 87 GTA is my summer dauly driver so 3.73's would be right on.
the 91 FORMULAGTA is my wash rat reacer so it got the 3.73's swapped for 4.11's so my 3.73's i was going to drop in the 87 GTA in place of the 3.23's.cause this 65mph@1,750rpm's is nut's
i wann at about 2,200 - - 2,500rpm's@65mph. on my driver/weekend hotrod. and 2,500 - 3,200@65mph with my avenue rat/tracktoy. and 3,300 - 3,600@65mph with my race car.

87 "GTA" L-98 350 TPI :3.73's 26 inch wheels.
1 of a million built. $.
91 "FORMULAGTA" 406 DDI:4.11's 27 inch wheels.
#04out of 20 suposedly built.$$$.
69 "HURST S/S AMX" 390 crossram: 4.44's 28 inch wheels.
#02out of 53 built.$$$$$$.
