342 gear rear end question

ok my car has been acting strange lately. it makes a wierd groaning noise when i turn the wheel slightly to the left and pull into a parking spot (not the usual cracking noise it makes when the wheel is maxed to the right) or sometimes when im going to stop at a light thats on a hill with the wheel streight. the groaning noise is pretty loud and i can feel it almost under my feet. i dont know what is causing this as it doesnt always happen. i was thinking could it be my 342 gear rear end needs to be oiled? or what happens when a rear needs oil. ive never had this problem with any of my other thirdgens. i dont think its my steering cause my fluids are perfect and it has no leaks there.

Try performing a rear end service first.Go down to your local GM dealer and pick up some diff lube w/ the Gm limited slip additive. To preform remove rearend cover to drain fluild.Clean cover and reinstall w/ new gasket.Torque bolts to 30lbs.-ft.Next remove the rearend fill plug(located at the back oft the rearend)and add 2 quarts gm of lubricant(#1052271) and then the limited-slip additive(#1052358).If that does'nt work it sounds like you might have a bad bearing in there.

Sounds to me like you just need a general chassis lube. Get a grease gun and crawl underneath and shoot some lithium grease into every grease fitting you can find. I don't know what is/is not greaseable with the stock equipment, but almost all aftermarket suspension pieces have grease fittings and need to be greased regularly.
