383 stoker or Lt1
I dont want my 305, but before i scrap that engine, i was wondering what i should do...i like lt1's alot and i would love to throw one in, but i can get a 383 stroker for $3800, me and my friends can put the engine in thats not a problem, it would have everything to install it as well, with the 383 would i still be able to use my tpi system or a newer fuel injection system.
And approximately how much would it cost me to get am lt1

the 383 will produce and is capable of producing way more power than an LT1. you cannot use your tpi with the 383...it would be stupid cause they are so restricted!! i would either go with a carb setup or miniram/superram.

I would go with a SBC 383 for a few reasons Heads are cheaper and you have more of a selection.Plus because your car is already TPI you could go with a LT1 intake.and have someone who knows what they are doing tune it for you you will come out with about the same result and alot easyer too do over an LT1 plus you dont have to worroy about the opti. the only Plus I can think of with the LT1 is the rev. flow cooling you could run more of a C/R

Well im pretty sure i wanna go with the 383
Now one of those mini-rams would take the place of the whole tpi setup or is it an add on to it that would make it work with the 383...im totaly confused on all of this, youve got a person who is coming from the sport compact world, and has no clue what all this really means...

SBC= small block chevy
I have a 386 (its a 350 block, cyclender holes where bored to .40over rather then .30 over (to make it a 383) with a 400 SBC crankshaft)
The engine in my iroc that is tpi. However i dont have the originaly tpi manifold on the car. I bought the mini ram. Which takes the place of the tpi. Actually it is still considered tpi but it just has an aftermarket intake (mini ram). Typically when you say tpi most peope think of the stock intake manifold setup. You could always go with the holley stealth ram, accel super ram, or go with some bigger runners and port the base and plenum of the stock tpi set up. I would just go with the stealth ram or the mini ram. You get a better bang for you buck.
What i think you should do, since i have both the 386 stroker with a mini ram and an lt1. I love both of my cars and they where fun swaps. However the 386 stroker cost A LOT of money. The lt1 swap i did was about $4k......ONLY because of all the new parts i bought and some stupid things i had go wrong that arent normal. I would go with the lt1 swap first.......THEN down the road do some machine work and make it a 383 stroker..

your best bet is to keep the TPI setup, get some SLP runners and have your base ported or get an aftermarket one, the plenum is REALLY easy to port
the TPI is known for producing mad torque due to the long runners, and doing a 383 stroker is all about torque
