3rd Gen guage cluster swap

I own an 84 Camaro Z28. The guage cluster only reads 85 or so.. I am looking to swap the guage cluster with that from another 3rd gen Camaro, possibably out of an 89 IROC-Z (which the spedo registers 140 mph). Would the IROC's cluster work with my Z28?

In short: Can I transfer any cluster from 3rd gen into my 84 Z28?

this might help you, its a tech article on swapping the 145 mph gauge unit into the base model's 85 mph unit.

not sure if thats what your looking for, but i was searching the boards for a straight answer, and some threads pointed to that.

welcome to the boards, and good luck!

Yes, you sure can. It is a very common swap. Any 86.5 to 89 145MPH cluster will work. Everything bolts right up and is a direct swap. Speedo's are calibrated the same.
