3rd gen true duals

Re: 3rd gen true duals
I don't have a picture of mine but I had a muffler shop run mine in double-barrel shotgun style (side by side tac welded together) one tube off each Cat, in the factory routing, out of 2.5" tubing, separating just past the rear axle and finishing with a Vette located pair of "RPM" mufflers.

And like I said, unless you are building an all out big inch race motor, there isn't a need for more flow than a 4" single system can handle. I'm not against true duals, and if you like them, then go for them. I'm just adding my input....

Re: 3rd gen true duals
The problem with most single's is they use a "Cross-Flow" designed muffler with some tight turns and bouncing exhaust waves off of the flat-wall internals.
To have an effective single exhaust, you would need to have either a large single or a pair of decent dual tails exiting on the same (drivers side) of the vehicle.
My exhaust has as much ground clearance as a stock exhaust b/c both pipes run the stock locations with stock hangers as if they were one pipe. Add a pair of straight-thru mufflers in a similar location as the Vette and a couple of chrome turn-downs, and I have a stock appearing, very-free-flowing exhaust.

Re: 3rd gen true duals
This is exactly what I've been running for years, only I still have my Dual-Cats in stead of the "H-Pipe" and I have Edelbrock RPM mufflers and 45* chrome turn-downs and mine is tucked up closer to the floor-boards.
