84 z28, go 383 or no?

First off, i'm new here. I'm a member on other forums and so on......

Well I have a 84 Z28 with the 5.0 HO and the tranny is shot. I have a 383 with double hump heads, weiend intake, and a holly 750 dp.
I was considering swapping in the engine when I swap trannies but the car is a T-top car. It doesn't have subframe connectors yet and probly have to be one of the first addons.

What would the 383 do? estimate hp, tq and 1/4?

BTW: this car is gonna be daily driven, not gonna drag race it. Might go once to see what it can do.

Not nearly enough info to guess power out put, so my guess is between 100 and 360hp

These car bodies are weak enough as it is with no sub frame connectors, so any time you increase power you will increase body flex and soon the roof will start to rip/crack. Even with my 8 point cage and sub frame connectors I rehashed the cracks that were fixed prior to getting painted.

Are you putting an automatic in it? A 383 is a high torque motor which is great for an automatic but not as great for a stick. Most 383's tend to be 380hp +, 400 ftp+ so I would definitly recommend subframe connectors and probably a cage. My friend greg had an 83 he put a 350 in it with 400 hp and 425ftp and blew the t-tops out of it. He didn't have connectors or a cage though, even if you do all that they will still probably rub and leak though. I took hint from this and bought a hard top, now my only problem is breaking tranny mounts and bending the torque arm. I would suggest a 350 though if your doing a daily driver you can easily build a 350 to give you the hp you want without spending all the extra money in machining the block to stroke it.

Ok, I didn't mind some subframe connectors, don't wanna do a cage.
I guess I will leave what's in it in it, I need to find out how to tell what engine is in it. It has a big balancer but I need too look at the nymbers on the block. I don't know what the numbers mean though.

The 383 is already built, bought it from a guy. Gave $1,000 for engine and a 78 chevy 4wd truck.................
