86 TPI top end on 350 in S10
I'm posting this for a buddy who is building an S10. He's got everything finished up and he can't get power to the computer. He needs to know what/where to get a harness w/o having to buy all the extras. He just wants to buy one harness to control all the basics w/ 1 wire power hookups for everything (if this is even available). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
TIA

Does he need an engine harness or a chassis harness? I don't understand this '1 wire' business. The only '1 wire' thing I know about relates to alternator wiring, which has nothing to do with the computer harness.
Anyway, he should be looking on ebay or through salvage yards for a TPI harness from an 86 or 87 TPI f-body. The 88+ cars incorporated the chassis harness in with the engine harness and that just makes things unnecessarily complicated. If he's running a small-cap distributer with a divorced coil (which I imagine he is if he wants any kind of room around the firewall), he'll have to repin 1 4-wire plug for the distributer, but it's no more than a 20 minute project with the proper tools, and 25 minutes without them.

yes he's got the divorced coil. He had the wiring harness out of the car that the computer and top end came out of, but there seem to be parts/plugs missing ??? (by the way..the camaro was running when they took everything out)
1-wire as in less complicated....to actually hook up the computer/alternator....just the basics (like i said.....not sure if its possible or available, it'd just be nice )

1 wire for the computer? No. But, this isn't rocket science. When you lay out the harness, all of the plugs wind up in the relative proximity of where they need to go, and there's really no chance of plugging things into the wrong parts because all of the plugs are unique. Just take your time and you shouldn't have much of a problem.
