89 Iroc-z

As of today I am the proud new owner of a green 89 IROC 305 TPI Auto with T-Tops and Power windows, doors, mirrors, seats, and antenna. Grey interior. Has 148000 miles on it. its original coler was a brilliant blue which i might restore. It has american racing rims on it i believe they are 15x8's but im not sure.
It needs new dash, new starter, new window motors both sides(driver's side is a bit too slow), new shifter panel and ashtray, and the plastic distributer cover trim panel. I picked up the starter todya and will put it in tomorrow.
I paid 1800 even for it and im very satisfied with it so far.
feel free to reply ill be taking pictures tomorrow if for some reason someone wants to see it.

Re: 89 Iroc-z

1800 is kinda pricey for an 89 with all that wrong with it.

Re: 89 Iroc-z

They wanted 2499 i dont really think its too bad. THe other 89 iroc i found had low compression in cylindars 2 and 6 and it had bad tires and they wanted 1200 so i thought this one was better. i can get a new window motor from the junkyard outta my old camaro i have a near mint dasboard in m,y closet and the trim panels are a dime a dozen.

Before buying new window motors, do a search here, and TGO you might save yourself some time and $$$. A slow motor may not be a bad motor.

Exactly! all us 4th gen guys know all about slow motors... supply a little more power to it with thicker wires or a relay, and usually that fixes it.

Re: 89 Iroc-z

thats true about slow motors. it goes up and down just fine but the passenger side gets nothing i havent really looked at it but i suspect its unplugged maybe because it goes down but not up or something i dunno ill be looking this car over with a fine tooth comb in the next few weeks.

Re: 89 Iroc-z

The way i look at it is if it is something you want then its worth every penny you put into it. I will try to post some pics of my 88 IROC-Z28 305 TPI T-top car i bought on 24may06 for the amount of $390.00 with new tires and fuel pump and 99.5% rust free.

Re: 89 Iroc-z

I'd respray it in the Medium Quasar Blue it used to be...I love that color, and that's my first choice when looking for my beloved IROC...

As soon as this damn Grand Prix is sold...

I dunno dude, I looked at an 87 the other day, granted it was a L98, but they wanted $4995 for it and it was a HUGE flaming POS!!!!!! Had a "new" Macco paint job but otherwise it was trashed........200k+ miles, etc. And they laughed when I talked about lowering the price. Told them to enjoy the car, it will be on the lot a LOOOOONG time at that price in that condition.
