9 bolt gears (where to get them asap)

Hey guys. I am looking at getting a set of 9 bolt gears. At the moment I have 3.27s, I am looking to get 3.73 upto 4.10. I heard some bad stories about 9 bolt.com, and noticed that precision gear offers a 3.73 ratio for these diffs. Anyone else offer 3.89 or 4.10? Also, what else would I need to install those gears. For example, anyone sell bearing kits and possibly shims that might be needed? Thanks a lot, I need to find some asap. My motor is done!!!!

9bolt.com and Precision gear are your ONLY options for new gears unfortunately. I too have the 3.27's and have been trying to find gears and parts for 9 bolts for four seasons now and other than the odd set popping up on ebay used I have found no other options. I finally gave up and I am in the process of fabbing up a very precise jig to make 8.8" Ford hybrid rears. They are tough as 12 bolts with more available parts and they are very quiet unlike 12 bolts and nine inchers which whine too loud for enjoyable street use. I will post on the 8.8 when I finish the jig and get it bolted into my car. I hope to be able to sell these rears for about the same cost as rebuilding a 9 bolt.

That sounds like a plan. I have a spare T56 I was gonna put in my '88 with my new 383, but I broke three friggin 10 bolts in my '94 with that T56 and a spec II clutch, and this 9 bolt is my only lifeline in this car. An 8.8 is a good idea. A complete 9" is not all that cheap either, but might seem like the only way to go for now.

I looked it up, by the time I buy the new gears, install kit and bearings for the 9-bolt, then have it all shipped to Canada, I am looking at over $800 american for all that. Plus the install, plus the fact that its a used posi and so on. Just not worth it in my oppinion. The 8.8 is a good idea, only make the jig for both thrid and fourth gens. Your market might be higer with the fourth gen cars!!!

Precision gear does not carry them. I was at the local speed shop a few weeks ago. Someone had ordered some gears and I just happened to walk in when they finally found out that none were available.

www.9bolt.com or www.diffsolutions.com (same web site, different name) is your only source for 9 bolt parts.

I agree that the market will have more demand for fourth gen rears and the jig is being designed to be able to do both third and fourth as they are identical other than the width of the axles. There is another guy in Texas making up 8.8's for fourth gen guys but he is pretty backed up. I will be offering 28 and 31 spline versions to give as many options as possible to try to keep the cost as reasonable as I can. I will post up detailed info once I get it done. I hope to have it complete this week as my car is sitting on the lift with no rear until I am done.
