92 camaro starting problem

i have a problem starting my camaro 92 rs 305 tbi. is was working fine today and now it does nothing. the starter will not engage from the key. if you cross the solinoid it will spin. i noticed before this happened that it was having me click the key a couple of time for it to start. i think i was my shifter connection. if i move the shifter it would click and sometimes not.<b&m rachet> now it willnt do anything no noise or anything. everything is working fine and it was ok like an hour before i just turned it off and came back and nothing now.. anything can help me guys thanks

sounds like it could be the neutral safety switch since u said u had an aftermarket shifter. try to put it in neutral and start it instead of park...and maybe wiggle it around if it doesnt work.

Maybe the ignition switch? Is the shifter completely in park,if not your car wont start .Try readjusting the shifter.

Check the fusible links at the starter first to see if there is power after the links

Is the Ing switch actuator rod connected at both ends. Can you tell if it slides back & forth when you turn the key.

well they have found out that. the security relay went out again and that now it will start but the injecters will not pulse. so in return will not start but will turn over now. they now found something call a passkey module i believe. they said they have no ground and its being grounded threw the module. so they are looking for that part and i will know tomorrow if it runs.. i hope damn

OH NO! I`ve never had to change one! make sure your not stuck buying it if they are wrong! Usaually the problem with a pass key system is right at the tumbler....pass key dosn`t use ground to verify that the right key is in the ignition, it uses a specific resistance between 100 and 1000 ohm`s The problem usaually is that one of the resistance wires break at the tumbler.....easy way to check is check resistance with a ohm meter at the end of the wire coming out of the column....it should read the same resistance as the "chip" in your key. Hope they know it`s not that!

ok the car will turn over now from the key but now they said they aint getting injector pulse.. would the pass key make that happen.. this happened like 2 years ago and it was the securty relay.. which they said they replaced this time.. they said they have done 3 different test and they all point at the pass key mod.. the thing is once its in its mine..so if it doesnt work i am down 440 dollars and i just cant do that.... total bill at this time with pass key 720 dollars... i think its time to trade it in...
