'96chevy 1500 350 engine question
My friend recently had his '88 305 swapped out for the 350 from a '96 chevy truck 1500. He needs to know what to call the engine in reference to performance parts and things like that.
So whats the engine called? and
whats good for the engine in terms of performence parts?
anybody familiar with this swap?
This info i am relaying is what was told to me so any corrections along with suggestions are very welcome.

Vortecs = power.
Your buddy hit the jackpot. Thats a 255HP engine in stock form with the factory EFI -- its known as the Vortec 5700. Your buddy just got his mitts on a Vortec-headed 350, just itching to tear it up with a decent cam and headers.
good score.

Doing a search I found the 5700 Vortec made 250 hp @4600 rpm in 1996. It probably gained another 5HP from a redesigned catalytic converter for '97. As far as I know, the Vortec 350 was the same engine from '96-'99.
The main thing is, those Vortec heads.
