Adjust roller rockers - zero lash

Hello.
I have finished my camswap (new cam, spring and rockers).

First I tightening the rockers to zero lash (no slack between the pushrod and rocker).
Then I do a 1/2 turn and tight the lock.
I set each cylinder on the compression stroke when I do the adjustment.
After adjusting all the rockers I crank the motor several full turns.

Then, afther the cranking I can spin the pushrod between my fingers again (no zero lash).

Question:
-Is that normal/okay? Should it still be tight? Do I have to do the adjustment once more?
There are no ticking noise from the rockers when I start the enging.

Br Morten

Re: Adjust roller rockers - zero lash

You adjusted them correctly. As mentioned above, they will bleed down. If you think they're not adjusted properly, you need to back them right off and start again. The 1/2 turn is roughly .030" of an inch preload which is what the cam manufacturers want for hydraulic lifters.

That's the trouble with hydraulic lifters. You'll never know how much preload is on the lifter unless you back off the rocker and reset it. They'll take some variation with no problems but getting it close to .030" is best.

How do you know if u bent a pushrod? will it backfire? I'm having trouble adjusting the valves on my lt1 trans am. the rockers are very noisy, car bogs during acceleration if i don't give enough gas.
