I thought I got lucky once and I got a 3.45 9 bolt from a G-92 87 Bird. I brought it home only to find out that the posi and ring and pinion gears were all bad. It was a 3.45 though. I paid 200 for it and when I told the guy what happened he offered to give me my money back or give me 100 back and I keep the rear. That is what I did and I now have a posi 3.73 9 bolt.

So how much did the gears and posi set you back? I know they're pricey but I dunno HOW pricey...

That is a good price for that 9-Bolt, good deal. Now all those people who complain about 9-bolt prices, let them price a Moser or a 9" Ford for about $2500 without brakes. Or better yet let them run their 10-bolts. Its just that GM's bean counters got rid the best Rear Axle on the 3rd Gen cars.

I have about 850 in mine. I bought a new 3 series carrier, new 3.73 gears, new install kit, new axle bearings, oil and 100 for a friend at a pro shop to set it up for me.
