Auto to T-56

What all is required to go from an auto to a T-56. Also, which should I do first, 305 TBI-LT1 swap or the tranny swap?

Do a search, there was another guy asking this very same question a couple days ago. Tranny swap IMO. I'd rather have a 6-speed than more power, especially since I'm a kid. Either way though it'll be sweet!

Yeah I answer this question about once every couple weeks.....I swapped the engine first (went from 305TBI to carbed 355) and then the stock tranny went out like 6 months later. So if you do the engine first make sure your trans is in good shape...if it isn't or you aren't sure I'd suggest swapping the trans first.

Also, keep in mind the T-56 cars came stock with 3.42 gears.....your 2.73 factory rear is gonna make her slow as hell off the line (ask me how I know.) Later,

Are you crazy? I thought you wanted the LT1? If this all works out you'll have the LT1 and the 4L60E. Just messin' with ya!

My personal cenario use it as it will....
I plan on replacing my bolt on 350 with an engine that produces about 600 hp at the crank. However i know my 700r4 and my 10 bolt arent going to have the ability to stand up to that kind of power and i plan on dropping in a t56 in at some point anyways.

I have decided to go the sensible route (i cant believe it either) and do the transmission and rear end first because its not worth putting the new motor in and then blowing out your drive train and not having the ability to pay for a new drive train. Smart and sensible isnt going to win me the race unfortunatly but it will at least leave me with something to race in.

Id say do the tranny first because if you put a new engine your going to have to beef up your auto and if you want to put in a t-56 then why waste your money building up the auto? Do it once but do it right IMO.
