ok now I see.Well the easiest would be to get a 350 from a 87-92 f/body.You can build that cheap to go fast.

Well around were I live I can find 350`s for about $300 complete engine but it will need a rebuild. so just look around if you buy used you can make a nice 300hp 350

350 2 or 4 bolt main $100-$250
350 crank $150
350 2.02 heads $200-$400
cam w/lifters $50-$150
Holley intake $50-$200
Holley 650 cfm carb $50 plus $50 for the rebuild kit or $200 for rebuilt holley
Rockers $20-$250
push rods $50
water pump $10

$800-$1650 give or take if you start with a block. it`s up to you what you want and what you spend. $800 will give you a nice 350 250hp engine 1650 will be more like a 350/350hp engine. you might be able to build it cheaper. if you can find a block that has been preped for rebuild (cheacked for cracks and bored) you`ll make your life alot easyer. but you`ll have to look for deals. I hope this helps

or you can go my way turn a 350 into a 383 but I`m $3000 into it and I just have pistons crank and rods I`ll be $8000 into it or more before I`m done but it will have over 400 hp

Good luck on your 350
ps that 305 you`ll get $200 if your lucky

i would hope for 8 grand that you have at least 400 hp. Why did your build get so expensive you could build a 400 hp car for a lot less then that.

I`m canadian so everything here is twice as much when your building new

eg. you guys can buy a intake for about $150 my price over here $250

Holley carb you guys $300 same carb over here $600

you could build my engine for half of what I can

There`s another canadian on this bord his engine I think he said costs more then $12000 for a all forged engine

Oh I just saw that you live in Ont so you must know how much everything cost here a retro roller cam cost $1200 alone here.

AFR 195`s 2400 for apair

so 3000 for my bottem end 2400 for the heads and 1200 for the cam = $6600

If you know of any good speed shop in ont let me know!!!

theres only one speed shop around me i forget the name but i havent really delt with them at all I just know of them because a friend of a friend of mine works there. Where abouts in ontario are you? I live in the markham area.

Also are you planning on running afr 195's?? I am not going to be doing the engine build for a while because im 16 and dont have the cash but those are the heads im considering using. If you do purchase them youll have to let me know how you like em.

If you can find a 350 TPI then pull the TPI off and use the TBI from the 305 and sell the TPI or go to a carb.

But painless wiring probly has a kit to change your car to a TPI I heared there wiring kits are easy to put in

1 350 TPI (L98)
1 ECU for a L98
1 painless wiring kit

And you have a nice TPI car.

Why can't you just get the motor, ECU and wiring harness off of the L98 car and swap it all into the TBI car. Couldn't you just unplug the whole TBI harness and plug in the TPI one (w/ new computer of couse)? I was under the impression you could...

I`d rebuild the 305 bore it out to 310 put a bigger cam in and do some head work and have the valve seats cut for 1.94 intake valves raise compression to 10:1 and a new TBI intake and you should be close to the LT1 cars If your block is a roller block 87 and up then use an LT1 cam there powerfull and cheap and don`t forget headers!!.
