Brodix for 1000$ or Vortec for 600$?

Don't wanna take up all your time here, so I'll make this fast.

I was planning on buying Brodix IK200 aluminum heads for $1000.

200cc Intake ports
64cc Combustion Chambers
1.470'' Dual Valve Springs
(125 lbs. Closed / 325 lbs. Open).575'' Max lift
2.02''/1.60'' Valves
Straight Plug
Assemble

Friend of mine wants to sell me his Vortec heads from Pro Topline. They are Iron. He wants 600$ for them. Is that even a good price for these heads? I'm pretty sure I can get them for that price brand new.

170cc intake runners
1.94/1.5 valves
120lbs closed, 275lbs open springs, good for .540 lift
64cc Combustion Chamber

What deal here would be a better deal? Will brodix really make that much more power to where it would be worth 400$ more? Keep in mind that if I do the vortecs I might be able to go with a new TPI baseplate from edelbrock.

Thanks!

_Clark

I'd go with the Brodix, I cannot stand iron heads. Not to mention you'd need a whole new intake to go with the Vortec intake ports. I don't know if the straight plug would cause any fitment problems with whatever manifolds/headers you are using. Looks like you can run a bigger cam with the Brodix heads as well.

I'm only going to be running a .452/.465 Lift 214/220 Duration cam. I was thinking I could port the vortecs out a little as well. But you are right about the intake, I would have to get a new baseplate for my TPI now wouldnt I?

Also, I think he's throwing in a set of Comp 1.52 Roller Rockers...still have to clear that up. The heads are already assembled.

200cc isn't too big on a 350. Tons of cars are running 195s just fine. Fastburns are a popular choice and I think they run 210cc. With the TPI intake being restrictive as it is, maybe they would be overkill but I say since the TPI is choking the life out of it you might as well get the best heads available to hopefully make up for that.

Re: Brodix for 1000$ or Vortec for 600$?

Alright guys, after reading the responses from you and the guys from Thirdgen, I have decided to go with the Brodix Aluminums, seeing as I would have to spend 400$ on a Vortec baseplate anyhow. Besides, this leaves me open for an HSR or an LT1 swap in the future. Thanks for your input.
