C.a.i.

I am looking for a Cold Air Induction system for my 89 IROC with a 5.7. I want a mandrel bent with an open cone filter. The only ones I can find are the airbox type. How are the airbox type, what kind of gains are expected from them? Can someone tell me if they make POLISHED MANDREL BENT INTAKES WITH OPEN CONES FOR AN 89 IROC?

Besides the SLP boxed one, I haven't seen any others. Some say you can stick a pipe in the accordian hose and an air filter in the other end.

you have to relocate the battery which is about it.

custom 4" mendrel bent stainless. i smoothed the welds down and cermaic coated it to make it look like one solid piece. without the coating your looking at roughly 145 in parts for the K&N, tubing, and pieces to connect.

or you could make a ram air box from the fog lights and have essentially the same thing for like 10 bucks in parts.

same thing basically....what is the white version made out of?

i know it made quite a difference over the stock air box with K&N filters....however i would like to try a varience between the 4" and a stock setup that's gutted just for fun. if there was a way to do it so that everything looked stock and it worked well i think it would be a nice idea. i like the look of the custom cai much better but which ever works better in the end is what matters.

My white one is made of aluminum. It came from a a semi truck.
It's not white any more, had it sand blasted and I am going to polish it so it is nice and shiny.

that sounds nice....i would like to strip mine and polish it as well but the coating helps to keep the heat out from the engine so i will leave it for now.

I want one like that white one! I just need to Know how to do it. I'm not good @ cars yet. I can only fix aircraft. Where did you put the battery? How hard was it to hook this setup up? where did you get the parts? Did they come bent?

Where did you get it made and how much? I am looking for a replacement for my stock airbox pipe that goes from the box to the accordian hose on the TB.
