A/C too cold?

A/C too cold?
I replaced the compressor and drier in my 85 Camaro a couple of weeks ago. I drive about 20 miles on the interstate after work to get home. By the time I am home I hear the blower motor spinning as hard as it should on high but not much volume is coming out. I am suspecting the evaporator is freezing up blocking the airflow. Is there a setting I needed to change on the new compressor or drier?

There are no settings or adjustments on those parts. It's possible that one of the various pressure switches is screwed up elsewhere in the system causing the compressor to never shut off. That's a common thing that causes freeze-up. It's also possible that is why your old compressor died- it mighta been murdered by a faulty switch or relay that caused it to run continuously which will eventually kill it.

I have an 85 z and I got my friends dad to recharge the ac and then my compresser started making the belt smoke and squeel and it was on there good and tight. Also it didn't blow out too much cold air. It does for about 3 seconds then stopps.

Replace you're low pressure cycling switch. That is what controls your on/off cycling of the compressor. If you have a set of gauges, hook them up and monitor the low side reading at 2000 rpm's. You'll probably see the pressure drop below 20 psi which is the freezing point of the refrigerant and it forms a block of ice on you're evap core. High humidity conditions make it worse. If you drive around in normal A/C setting on low blower speed, that also promotes freezing because of too little air flow across the core in humid/hot conditions. Use the MAX a/c setting and keep your blower speed at least one step above low which will help......

I replaced the switch on the drier today. It still isn't cycling, just always on. When I unplug the switch or turn off the A/C the clutch turns off, so I don't suspect wiring. What is the screw in the center of the switch? Is it a set screw for the switch? If so, which way do I turn it to make the compressor cycle? Thanks
