Can the frame take it?
I've got a question,I've got mixed answers from the people i talk to in ottawa. But none of them drive a 3rd gen camaro.Right now i have the 2.8 v6 in my car and once that engine calls it quits i want to drop in something modern(ie:the engine named in the description).I've been told from a few people the the frame will look like a pretzel shortly after i get a LS-1 dropped in, And i've been told it will be fine.So as you can tell i'm compleatly confused.I was under the impression that IROC's and any other model of camaro used the same frame.
Can you guys help me?

V-6 and V-8 3rd gens. have the same frame or I should say uni-body. Put in some good weld in sub-frame connectors and you won't have to worry about it any more, but this should be done even on stock V-6 cars.

as i said, an ls1 isn't gonna rack a frame
depending on who you ask, 300HP will rack a frame, or 500 HP will rack a frame
it never hurts, and it's not really that expensive (like 150$?)
but under 400HP it doesn't really matter....

Cool, thanks for the replies.I look into finding some good sub frame connectors and go from there.
I think the guy told my i'd twist my car,so that way i wouldnt get the engine and i wouldn't be able to beat him in a race.

Don't know how true this is, but I once heard that the 3rd gen V6 Camaros lacked some additional frame connectors around the k-member that the V8s have. I heard some guy put in a V8 in a V6 Camaro and the engine literally twisted off the frame the first time he got on it.. Again, not sure how true this is... I once had a V6 and wanted to drop a V8 in it, but ended up just buying a used 89 since it was a lot easier... Good luck!

Do not put in an LS1 without sub frame connectors. It might not twist it enough to physically see it but it will happen.
I had a 178k miles on my 91 RS with the 305. Ttops never leaked. I put the LT1 in it and within a few thousand miles at most, it leaked every time it rained. And the doors started rubbing very badly. I have heard the tops pop under a launch. I am still looking for a good set of connectors to put on but I will have to get it straightened first.
Get the sfcs first!

The guys at www.thirdgenresource.com have an LS1 in their 'Vert. All they did is SFC's so you'll be fine.

Get SFC as the first mod if you don't have already. My car was tweaked from launching 1.6x before I put the SFC in. The corners of my Lexan T-tops are broken, don't leak and can't see it unless you pull the tops out. Also the passenger rear floor pan show an almost like dent from twisting a little too much. And not to mention hairline cracks in the paint on the driver's 1/4 panel.
All of those happened before the SFC went in. If you saw the car you wouldn't even notice it unless you go over the car with a fine tooth comb. I'm ****, what can I say

Isn't it true that the 350s are auto and without a convertable top? My understanding is that it would tweak the frame. I would weld in a set of SFCs before I do anything even with the stock motor. I would get the frame aligned and set then weld them in. That way, it is right and stiffened up.
