Car is smoking, what do you guys think it is?

You actually don't have to rotate the motor at all. As you loosen the rockers spring pressure will close them and then the air will keep them closed when you remove the springs. It may save a little time when readjusting the rockers after the seals are on, but IMHO it's not enough to justify the effort of turning the motor.

Why in the world would would you want to remove the rocker arms with any more spring pressure them and the push rods than is necessary.I still stand by my sugestion I would rotate the motor so that each valve is closed before taking the rocker arm off!

my 86 iroc did the same thing at startup, puffed smoke, i was told by many mechanics it was valve seals, did a tune up, and i mean tune up, not just plug change, and low and behold no smoke!
What exactly did you include in your tune up? My 87 IROC puffs smoke on start up and no more....I want to know everything you did bro. Thanx
