there has not been a v8 3rd camaro to weigh in less than 3300lbs.
of course options will vary as stated,if you notice i said my RS A4 was lighter than my Z28 5spd,the z28 has bigger swaybars, rear disc brakes, tpi unit weighs more than a tbi & manifold, hood blisters, wonderbar etc. so yes it definately make a weight differece.
my 96 z28 fully loaded with pleather interior weighs 3540 with me in it and a 1/4 tank of gas so i would say the 4th gen is lighter than a 3rd gen, hell just by the doors and hatch alone thats gotta be 75lbs difference alone, then aluminum heads to boot!NOw the Ls1 cars are some heavy suckers average weight is 150+lbs more than an Lt1 car....

Well, the point of the post wasn't "all thirdgens weigh less than all 4th gens"
I know this. I've owned the lightest 3rd gen and heaviest 4th gen.
The point was a 91 RS weighs less than a 94Z28.
And yes, everyone knows an LT1 car will beat a 91 RS. He's turning the thing into a drag car so stock times don't mean anything.

I doubt all these posts.
Every V8 third gen that still has an interior that I've seen (or heard) go across REAL CALIBRATED SCALES weighs in at about 1900 to 2100 pounds on the front tires, and 1440 to 1650 pounds on the rear tires.
That makes them weigh in at 3300 to 3750 with most of them in the 3500 pound range.
The third-gen and fourth-gen generally fall within the same weight range, depending on options.
My stock '84 Trans Am, with 305 H.O. and 700R4 weighed in at 3550 pounds back in 1990.
In 2005, with a roll bar, six-speed manual, no A/C, a race battery, aluminum heads, and some other stuff, it weighs in at 3460: 1900 pounds in the front, and 1560 in the rear.
An RS that weighs in at 3100 pounds must be filled with a mixture of unobtanium and helium.

Now that would be a heck of a lot faster than a 91 RS with an LO3!
As far as the above post, I can't say you're wrong, but if you aren't, just about every published weight for our cars is wrong. We have to consider gasoline here. That's some heavy stuff. Published curb weights are sans gas I believe.
I don't find it hard to believe that a thirdgen is several hundred pounds lighter based only on the seat of my pants. My 99 Trans Am feels much heavier than the 91 RS I used to own and the 85 Trans Am I'm about to buy. I know seats of pants are oftentimes liars though

Published dry weight doesn't mean anything. You have oil, water and fuel on-board of a running car. Figure 15 gallons of gasoline, at 6.216 pounds per gallon, means a 15 gallon tank adds 93 pounds to your car. 15 gallons weighs the same whether it's in a third-gen tank or a fourth-gen tank. It's a moot argument.

I'll tell you what: Let's settle this ONCE AND FOR ALL.
Next May, I will get some CALIBRATED scales and bring them to the 2008 National Fbody Motorsports Event in Memphis, TN. I will weigh as many third-gens and fourth-gens as I can. I'll post corner weights, powertrain configurations, gas gauge reading, etcetera for each car in a spreadsheet. It'll be statistical, and objective.
Until then, you all keep dreaming that you have a 3100 pound V8 Camaro. I know better, because the only 3100 pound third-gens out there have either their engines or their interiors ripped out.
I'll even offer a prize for the lightest third-gen and fourth-gen to cross my scales. How is THAT for putting my money where my mouth is? Who is going to take me up on it?? Until you do, I say I'm right and you are wrong.
