Which car weighs more, 91 RS or 94 Z28

I'll tell you what: Let's settle this ONCE AND FOR ALL.
Next May, I will get some CALIBRATED scales and bring them to the 2008 National Fbody Motorsports Event in Memphis, TN. I will weigh as many third-gens and fourth-gens as I can. I'll post corner weights, powertrain configurations, etcetera for each car in a spreadsheet. It'll be statistical, and objective.
Until then, you all keep dreaming that you have a 3100 pound V8 Camaro. I know better, because the only 3100 pound third-gens out there have either their engines or their interiors ripped out.
I'll even offer a prize for the lightest third-gen and fourth-gen to cross my scales. How is THAT for putting my money where my mouth is? Who is going to take me up on it?? Until you do, I say I'm right and you are wrong.

Published dry weight doesn't mean anything. You have oil, water and fuel on-board of a running car. Figure 15 gallons of gasoline, at 6.216 pounds per gallon, means a 15 gallon tank adds 93 pounds to your car. 15 gallons weighs the same whether it's in a third-gen tank or a fourth-gen tank. It's a moot argument.

Nobdy here is calling anyone a liar (unless you are)....
So do it. You'd be doing a service to the f-body community. And as far as dry curb weights meaning nothing, that's the only cut-and-dry no variables numbers we have to work with. Are they what our cars actually weigh? No.
And guy that thinks there aren't V8 RS's in 91....well there were. Lots of 'em.

Nope, I'm not calling anyone a liar, just calling people out for quoting second-hand numbers in which no one knows whether or not the scales are actually being used correctly. I'm thinking that unless someone has direct experience with weighing their car, they shouldn't be posting weights as fact. I've weighed mine on three different occasions.
Occasion # 1: totally stock, summer of 1991: 3550 pounds w/o driver.
Occasion # 2: Big, fat tires, subframe connectors, Optima battery, Spohn torque arm and crossmember, A/C delete with me in the seat: 3700 pounds, even. About 3520 w/o driver and 1/2 tank of fuel.
Occasion # 3: Same tires, but now with 65 lb. Chromoly rollbar, 6-speed transmission, aluminum heads, 14-pound race battery, lightweight hood, & more: 3460 lbs without driver and 1/2 tank of fuel.
If I took out the extra steel, i.e. 6-speed, wheels, rollbar, subframe connectors, heavy-duty suspension, the car would weigh about 3300. I can't see a stocker getting any lighter than that without losing an interior.

Oh, and I plan on finding some real race scales for nest year. I'll rent them if I can't borrow them. I've been wanting to do a weigh-off for some time. Come to Memphis next May and we'll find out the real truth of which car weighs more: A stock third-gen or a stock fourth-gen. I think they will fall within the same range.

If you want I will weigh my car it is a 91 RS with a LT1 in it. It really shouldn't matter too much.It does not have power windows or locks so it should weigh in on the light side.

i guess the truth hurts some people.
i do not answer questions based on an "i think so" without giving another possibility!the original question was which one weighs less and i spoke from my experience and the cars i have owned, raced and driven daily.i would think i gave a valid answer and i will stick by it.
the RS 3.1 v6 will be the lightest
RS 305 tbi
RS 350 tpi(B4C)

I've raced a couple LT1''s when I was bone stock and it wansn't even close. Either you've found some poor examples or it wasn't a TTA. I'm betting on the later. Stock LT1 f-bodies on their best day = hi 13's. TTA's are mid to low 13's all day.

My thoughts exactly. I bet they were TA and not a TTA. I don't even remember when I saw one on the street, let alone to FIND and RACE TWO TTA. Either way my $$$$ is on the TTA.

On average, a thirdgen with the same engine/drivetrain will weigh at least 100 lbs less than a 4th gen.
My LT1 swapped 86 t/a weighed in at 3320 before weight reduction. Options when weighted: 95 f-body LT1 engine, no emissions, hardtop, 700r4 tranny, 4th gen LT1 rear with disc brakes, 4th gen LT1 radiator and fans, cloth seats, full interior,a/c, stock 15" wheels, full aftermarket 3" exhaust, power locks/mirrors/windows, 4th gen dash/door panels/center console, spohn welded in subframe connectors, 4th gen styled spoiler.
My brothers 95 trans am weighed around the 3500s on the same scale. I can't remember the exact weight. His options: t-tops, 4l60e, power leather seats, power everything, a/c, no wieght reduction, pretty much stock.
I'm hoping to get both of these cars on the scales in july sometime. I'll have weight reduction though but keeping a/c.
