Unhappy car won't start???

try to start the car and i get a high pitched clicking noise but the engine will not crank over at all.... however, when i jump the battery i can get the starter to crank the engine over just a tiny bit and very slowly..

had the battery, starter, and alternator checked and they all work perfect outside of the car on the guages. even the starter is engaging the way it should? both the starter and alternator have only 450 miles on them and there were no signs of problems until it just quit working.

any solutions as to what can cause this? i don't think the starter is getting enough power yet everything checks out good separately and off the car. is there a starter relay on our cars that could go bad? i have no idea what else to check.

the fuel pump is brand new, granted i suppose it could go out or have a fault however the engine won't even crank over unless i give it some kind of boost by jumping the battery. even still with jumping the battery it barely turns over and will not start?

the battery, starter, and alternator have all been checkout by dealers. i'm not sure what to check anymore.

do a voltage drop test on your main wires
like the main wire from the battery to the starter.
also look at the condition of them first.

Sounds like it's just not getting enough juice....take a good long look at the battery cables, and make sure you've got good grounds between the chassis and block.

everything is newer under the hood which could be evident of a bad ground. visually all the wires are tight and grounds are as good to be expected.

what's a good way to check the voltage drop test?

get a volt meter and stick one end on the positive cable at the battery and the other end on the same battery cable at the starter and read the voltage should be no more than a volt

I JUST WENT THROUGH VERY SIMULAR PROBLEM.WHEN MY ENGINE WAS COLD IT WOULD CRANK THOUGH.MY STARTER WAS GETTING HOT SO WHEN IT WAS HOT I SOMETIME HAD TO JUMP START IT.THE EXTRA JUICE HELPED IT OUT.ALSO BEFORE I HAD THAT PROBLEM I HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE PASS KEY SYSTEM AND REPLACED THE IGN LOCK CYLINDER AND THE KEYS.I HAD TO INSTALL A GM STARTER,THE AFTERMARKETS JUST COULDNT HANG WITH THE HEAT.YOU KNOW WHAT THEY SAY IF YOU CANT HANDLE THE HEAT GET OUT OF MY CAR.

starter is good....

battery is good... no voltage drop under load and it reads plenty

alternator is good....

grounds are tight, clean, and there are plenty.....

what else can cause the starter to act like this?
