I got my car home and now it won't start, because it won't shift into park and won't start in nuteral for some reason. Also the shifter won't go down to 2nd or first gear.
I have tried to take the middel consoel appart and look for a purple and pink wire going in and out of a shifer sencor and cut the wire and reconect the ends to buy pass the all the safey crap.
The wire wasn't there.
I also tryed to put the car in nuteral with the ignition on and tryed to jump the starter noid with a steal bar, but the metal bar and nut going into the starter is coated with clear plastic sealent.
Any ideas?

I had a similar problem with my 91 rs. Check under the car near the transmission. A cable might have came loose. I was driving one day and I downshifted to drive going down a hill. When I hit a light I stopped, then took off again. I couldn't go over 15mph or the tach would show redline. Then when I got home the car wouldn't shift into park. It wouldn't shift much at all. I had to park it in whatever gear it was in. It wouldn't start either once I turned the car off. I had a buddy use a lift and check my car. He told me there was a problem with a cable to the transmission. He fixed it for me. I started up the car, luckily I had my foot on the brake real well because it took off on me. But it was fixed. No problems after that. Hope it helps.

Get under the car,and make sure the transmission shifts by hand.pull the lever that the shifter cable connects to into each gear.I've always had to roll the car an inch or so before the rear tires would lock up in park.this should at least tell you if the transmission is shifting into gear and if it is you can start it.
