carb jets/rods
my setup is in the sig.. and ive got an edelbrock performer 1407 (750cfm carb) .. and i believe it needs to be jetted as it seems to be running real lean up top.. Anybody got a setup like mine that can tell what size jets they used ? ? .. or what kind of jets come with the 1407 ??

Carb tuning is on a car-to-car basis. It depends on what parts are in the engine, how it's driven, what your altitude is, how warm the weather is, etc. You'll need to go get a rod/jet assortment (it comes in a little plastic divider box about 6"x10") and just spend some time playing with it. Adjust it one way and then drive it for a few days and see if it's better or worse. If it's worse go the other way, if it's better go farther the same way until it starts getting worse. Soon enough you'll get a feel for what adjustments have what effects and then you'll be able to tune it well.
The nice thing about an Edelbrock carb is that you can make any rod/jet change possible without draining the fuel out of the carb. Rod changes can even be done in less than 10 minutes without opening the carb up at all. For jets, you just have to disconnect the accelerator pump linkage, take the 8 bolts out of the airhorn and move it to the side (I usually leave my fuel line hooked up,) and then unscrew the jets/screw in the new ones.
