Question cold start valve

Is this really necessary? It is a major pain to put in and is causing me a vacuum leak. I live in Los Angeles, CA and the temps are always moderate. Could I take it it and run fine? What would I need to do? Thanks.

well when you turn your key on to start, it sprays a mist of gas to help start. i guess you need it, with out it i heard your motor will just crank hard and my not start. unless you get a chip to by pass it and have your injectors correct the loss of it.
