CompEngineering Bolt-in SFC C3120*

has anyone installed these?
seems like an easy install to bolt in, then head on down to get them welded in.
the only thing it says is the exhaust has to be disconnected/loosened for the install.

Never personally installed these particular SFC but I do know that the car will have to be perfectly level in order for any SFC to work properly.

You also are right in the sense to have them welded in after you are done bolting them in. I have heard a few horror stories about bolt in SFC's. Good luck with it.

Actually I am thinking I am going to order those soon
I did *not* know that the exhaust had to be loosened though I will have to have the exhaust shop put those in when I get my catback welded up

Re: CompEngineering Bolt-in SFC C3120*

from all of the reasearch i have done so far, it appears all of the SFC's usually require taking down the exhaust (if it's of stock layout).

there are very few bolt in ones, i did see a manufacture on ebay, but they come to the same price as CE's.

i dont mind weld in, just need to get them installed then off to a place to weld em in.

i have one chassis shop here i am trying to call to see about making SFC's and a small 4 point roll bar.

she wants one, and i can only find one company that sells a bolt in roll bar for this car.

Why should you NOT bolt in the sfc's, but weld them in instead?

Re: CompEngineering Bolt-in SFC C3120*

welding in will make them more sturdier.
on my 79 i bolted in comp eng's SFC's and what a difference.
i had a freind come over and tack weld them in, and wow, it was even sturdier.

you will be surprised at the difference.

to me ifi bolt them in, i'll head down to a muffler shop and ask them to tack weld them in.

true weld in ones on my 79 TA relocated the rear spring pearches, the bolt ons didn't.

seems on 3rd gens, the exhaust plays a major part in the install.

i honestly dont think anyone can go wrong with any type of SFC for these cars, somethings better then none.
and on my TA when i installed the 4 point bolt in roll bar, that helped too.

i guess summit is where i am going to get them from.

Re: CompEngineering Bolt-in SFC C3120*

I've got these on my car, they do stiffen up the car nicely. I have not had them welded and I've had no problems with the fasteners loosening nor the SFC's moving around as some have claimed. They are a problem with SLP dual cat headers though. I'm going to see if I can get the Y pipe modified to work with them.

^Really?? How are the jegster's the best?

But the sfc's are noticable in cornering or what?

They will help you all over but mostly in cornering. The coolest thing is when you go to jack the car up and the entire side picks up and not just the front/rear part of the car. It shows you how rigid the frame is at that point.
