Cooling Problem....HELP
Here's the skinny. Just got this 92RS from origional owner. Cars got 133K and runs fine has a new radiator but it's running too hot. At normal speed according to the gauge around 220 when sit and stop goes up to around 240 range. I'm thinking a new water pump, therm, and a flush to go with that new radiator and a pint of water wetter. Any ideas? I haven't driven it since I saw this happen so timely responses would be appreciated.

I know a few people that have tried the Stewart Stage 1 water pump and noticed a good temp. drop. Make sure there isn't a bunch of leaves and stuff between the radiator and condensor. Also, make sure the support spring is in the bottom radiator hose..if it isn't the hose could be collapsing, restricting coolant flow. Make sure the radiator is flowing well..let it get warm and feel along the radiotor..any cold spots and that's where it is clogged.

If you're not losing coolant, consider getting a lower temp fan switch put in. I just bought one for my 1984 Z28. Same problem lead me to make that purchase. I posted here a couple of days ago and was advised re: the fan switch. The guy at the speed shop said the same thing. Let me know how it goes and good luck!

MAKE SURE THE FANS ARE COMING ON first...
They are what cools the engine while idling.
Make sure you run a decent 50/50 mix of water and coolant. Maybe add a bottle of Redline Water Wetter also.
It could be the water pump but check all of the above first. Even add a manual fan switch so you can turn both fans on at the same time whenever you want. Mine works like a charm!! Goodluck

I recently changed to Edelbrock headers on my T/A GTA -88. After this my fan wonīt start. The temp raise to 215 in say 3min on idle, but the fan doesnīt start.
When I changed to headers I cracked the sensor on passengerside, but I changed it right away.
When I turn the ignition, the fan turns and stops directly.
Anyone familiar with this problem?

Get a lower temp fan sensor. The stock one on a TBI 305 Camaro RS does not turn the fan on until 244 degrees.

Ahh, that was rigt. I didnīt want to run the engine over 221*F, so I shut it down. Today I let it go, and the fan started at 225*F. Sorry, I didnīt know about that, Iīve only owned the car for a month. Need to install that fan-switch.
Thank You very much
