Design full EFI system for my carbed race motor

Now that I have gutted and removed every wire under the dash and in the car, (but did save the stock under hood harness), Alan and I started talking about EFI tonight.
This is a 400 block destroked with 3.48 crank to 377 CI, Crower circle track, solid, fat tappet cam, big AL head motor, currently topped by a BG 750 CFM Demon carb. Approx 550 HP/ 510 tq, w 7500 rpm redline Used exclusively for road racing in NASA and SCCA

Beside fitting better under the stock hood, are there any advantages to going to EFI

How bout disadvantages?

what do I need to convert a carb motor to an EFI system, soup to nuts and outperform the carb at every rpm level?

I know I need a stand alone puter, but we can do that, what about the hardware?

What system do I need, can an LT1 go on a stockdiection flow motor?

design my system, I know all the parts sell relatively cheap on the websites

Thanks
Evan

I believe there is a Superram DFI system that has the 58mm TB, Superram plenum and runners and the manifold for around 3 grand. It has everything you need including sensors and injectors, etc.

The advantage is that you will be able to adjust it to whatever combination you want on the fly vs being static with one adjustment in the carb. You will be able to program every part of the curve instead of one part.
