Talking disk break locking up warning

i found out the other day the hard way that most of the time when a disk break caliper locks up, its most likely not the caliper at all, its the break line itself that connects to the caliper, its notorious in camaros that this break line implodes. I wasted money on a new caliper and pads and i didnt even need them. Its always a good idea to replace both lines and bleed your breaks once in awhile especially if the car has been sitting.

If your breaks are locking up its generally rule of thumb to replce the calipers and lines all together. That's what I did with my front brakes two years ago and no problems yet.

Camaro brakes are chep anyway!

your right there lol, but even if the breaks didnt lock up, and the car just swerves when you step on the brake then pulls it could need new lines, that happend in my 86 firebird, it happens too often.

Great time to replace them all with an Earl's Hyperfirm SS braided kit. They really wake up our brakes. My factory lines carried me through 10 yrs. These will probably outlast the car.

Yeah, your better off to change it right when you first get signs of pulling. Prolonging the repiar will result in locking up and possibly crashing somewere...

Another often overlooked cause is caliper-to-knuckle clearance. Alot of times rust buildup occurs and makes the caliper drag. Next time you have the calipers off, take a file or something and clean all the rust off the knuckle where the caliper rides and lubricate it w/ silicone grease.

But usually the #1 cause for your situation is the brake lines.
