dissapointed with dyno readings :(
had the local speed shop dyno my car so they coudl get the fuel/air readings so they could see what they could do to get me to pass emisions, and the top hp at the wheel was 233.7 and tq at the wheel is 316. very dissapointed, although the first run only read 216 hp and 299 tq with quick tuning and a 1/2'' spacer plate it made it up to 233/316. i was not expecting anywhere near 233 i was hoping for atleast 250, so now what would be the next best step to getting more hp out of what i have so far? any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

A 600cfm seems like it's cutting it "close" but should be ok, I'm only running a 670....your lack of HP but high torque looks like TPI, but your carbed....could be your cam/intake combo....you can def smoke your tires all day....
try and get your cam specs...that shoudl tell a big part of the story....if your induction system "looks" like it should support more HP...maybe the carb is a little undersized....but i dont' know...the whole carb cfm issue is sketchy....some people say anything less then a 750 on a 350 is too little, some say 750 is too much....

"try and get your cam specs"
how? and i had an 850 double pumper on it before but that was way too big.
"what HP was the motor rated at when u got it? "
i bought the car 3 months ago and im just getting the little things worked out now, and i have no idea what that motor was rated at.
not sure what im going to do. the guy that dyno'ed my car last night was very nice (he even let me do it twice!!!) and he had a 350 ZZ4 crate motor with only 20 miles on it, w\ aluminum heads, and it dyno'ed at 335hp and he also offered me a job to work at the shop! and he said if i work there for a little while he could work out a deal for me on that motor. so i guess we'll just wait and see. thanks for the replies!

call up jasper and ask them what cams they use....see if you can find out what 350 you have....you can try to do a process of elimination of what engine you have....
an 850 would be too big....a 600 could be too small....who knows...buy a 750, see if it helps, return it if you don't need it....did you dyno it with the 850?

I have no idea if Jaspers ID's their engines...but you figure, they probably only offer so many 350 combinations...and you can assume that the person didn't use the most expensive 350 Jasper sells, so just see what the base Jasper 350 short or longblock is comprised of...they probably only use a few different cams in the buildup...and you should be able to at least scale it down between 1 or 2 it could possibly be from what they sell.
Run the 600 carb at the track, then put on a 750 and run at the track....that will let you know if the carb is too small or not. Once you know if your carb is the right size, you can see if it's your intake or cam etc. Try to eliminate possibilities 1 by 1, it's easy to figure out whats going on with less variables...

What intake does it have? If it's a stocker from an LG4 or something you're losing alot there. The carb wouldn't be my first place to start spending money on wildly until you know what cam/intake/heads etc the engine has. A 600 cfm can support a mild 350, which you most likely have... You will probably want to do a sligihtly larger carb and a better intake at the same time anyway, but figure out what you're working with now before you go throwing money at it...
If I had to bet I'd wager on it being Jaspers 300hp standard engine with a crappy intake choking it a little. Pretty mild cam. http://www.jasperengines.com/300horseflyer.pdf
233rwhp plus 20% drivetrain loss puts you around 280hp at the crank, not too far off a 300hp rating if it has a crap intake and slightly small carb choking it a bit.... Playing with the jetting and timing some could result in some more power too.

You know, the 350 you have could have been one of those weak ones out of an old truck or something out of the 70's when power dropped like nothing else. Just because it's a 350 doesn't mean it's going to put down power like an LS1. I've seen some 350's that couldn't even break 200 horses at the CRANK

Most of the Jasper remanafactured engines are rated at 240-260hp so he didn't do bad at all! Believe me, I also had one in my old IROC and right now I'm actually rebuilding it in my garage all night with a new top end package after having it sit for 2 years It came to me as a replacement truck motor basically. They usually have 8.0-8.5:1 compression also! BEst time with my IROC with every bolt on possibly, 3.73's Nitto's etc was a 14.40 @ 96 mph. 1.80 60 foot... Miserable.
