Does anyone have True Dual Exhaust on thier 3rd gen?

I was wondering if anyone has true dual exhaust. and if so, does it rub at all? I want to put true duals on my camaro and get rid of that y-pipe. Does anyone know where i can get some pipes?

true dual on a 3rd gen has and can be done,

very rarely have I seen it dorn well,

one of the only ones I've ever liked is on a friend of mines car and its rarely street driven, cause the exhaust goes under the axle instead of above it, and he is dual full 3"

your better off to run a single full 3" mandrel bent

I like that Setup a lot. Looks like it works good, how does it sound? Do you have problems with it rubbing even though it follows the same lines as the stock exhaust?

None at all. And the same ground clearance as the stock exhaust too.

I have hooker long tubes with 3" collectors. took it up to a local muffler shop and they welded up 3" to 2.5" collectors, true dual dumps right before the rear end with glasspacks. not too street legal but it performes and sounds great.

BY the way, That entire setup only cost me $290 - and its still street legal as i have a 1989 Fomula 350 with the Dual cat option - cant beat it. I'm not even sure anyone else around me let alone texas has a daily driver with that setup...

Re: Does anyone have True Dual Exhaust on thier 3rd gen?

It is custom, I didnt dump them because i wanted a nice look and a reasonable sound - I've done dumps and they are just too loud. But any competent shop should be able to bend and weld with any luck and reproduce what you see. There is no substitute and it is very cheap and flows very well...mine are mandrel bent, i wouldnt waste more money on a kit for a single/dual rear exit. See many fuel injected cars with sidepipes?

Re: Does anyone have True Dual Exhaust on thier 3rd gen?

Willie-your exhaust looks really nice. You did a fine job. IMO Perfect choice for a mildly modded street/strip car.

True duals will really wake any car up that has a lot of work done to the engine (with the exception of a turbo car). Ive seen it in several f-bodies, and really noticed it at the track on mine. The stock design is about the worst configuration you can get.

The only reason I didnt do all those crazy bends in my duals when I had the car was mainly it robs power when you route it everywhere and I had 3 inch pipes also. The more turns your exhaust makes, the harder the motor fights to get the gases out. But my car was mainly a true street/drag car, I was all about getting the most hp and love the sound of duals without tailpipes. Wish I could find some pics to show you, the lowest point of my exhaust was where the full length tubes met the exhaust pipes, and it rarely scraped. The car was pretty low to the ground as well..

Re: Does anyone have True Dual Exhaust on thier 3rd gen?

its illegal to dump it out anywhere under the car where i live but i know a couple of inspectors. i just went to a local muffler shop and the guy there welded it up for me. he said it was illegal to do so withour cats so i just gave him a good tip.
