Emissions question
I'm getting ready for my Smog Referee inspection and I can't figure out where to route the "Air Inlet" on the charcoal canister. I tried venting it to the atmosphere, but it causes a vacuum leak unless it is sealed shut. Where is this routed from the factory? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

GWHayduke,
Just looked at my '92, one vac line from the rt. side port of the throttle body, one vac line from the fuel tank with a vac operated shut off valve (one line to the tank, one line to the canisterand another small control line to the top of the valve) in line. These lines attach to the purge solenoid (on top of the canister) . Then the air vent to atmosphere. If you have a vac leak apparently your canister purge solenoid is stuck open. Do you have a code set?

It didn't set any codes and the solenoid checked out ok based on the factory diagnostic chart. When I pull the cap off of the air inlet tube, I get a loud hissing/whistle and a really erratic idle. I'll go scan for codes again but thanks for the input.
